Probably the best airbrush out there, especially for beginners!
When mine eventually arrived - original got lost in shipping - the first thing that impressed me was the craftmanship: solid weight and flawless polished, stainless nickel/steel coating. The first thing that novice airbrushers encounter is getting used to how far back to pull the trigger when pushing down on the trigger; this fixes that issue with an ingenious "notched dial" system behind the trigger with settings for base, prime, different detail and even a full notch so you can control the entire system in full dual action mode This is probably the best airbrush I have used in over 30 years! It is SO easy to take apart for full cleaning (so long as you are careful with the parts) and there are available different needles and nozzles available for more detail air spraying available online (just make sure you get the needle AND its matching nozzle components) While this is commonly used for modelling, I use it for acrylic art, and this is a real game changer. Don't waste your money on a cheap unit if you are starting out because they are a waste of time and money, and you will quickly get frustrated. This manufacturer has been one of the leaders in quality manufacturing of airbrushes for decades and is worth the initial cash outlay. The only negative is that there are NO instructions! However, a search on YouTube revealed several videos that explain how to correctly use it for the different settings.

Perfect for beginners
Unbelievably excellent product! It enabled me able to use another cheap brush i picked up and thought a dud but was just letting paint clog all the time with poor trigger control

Great beginner airbrush
Started off with a cheap alternative and struggled. Decided to give this one a go after watching an online tutorial and it’s a huge improvement. The trigger stop is great for beginners. It prevents you from common beginner pitfalls like spraying too much paint for a given layer type. And it keeps the nozzle from clogging by not letting you dispense paint without air being pushed through. I understand this is a downside to more experienced painters, but it’s been very helpful for this beginner. It’s easy to disassemble and clean. And while it’s quite a bit more than the typical beginner airbrush, I found it very much worth the extra cost in terms of limiting my frustration — more time painting, less time troubleshooting.

Pretty much what everyone says minus one issue....
I understand that this Airbrush is meant to be the ultimate "I'm new to airbrushing, hold my hand" airbrush from Harder & Steenbeck, but I hate them for not including a second nozzle that would have allowed back bubbling. It is SO frustrating not having that option when painting. In terms of quality, it's a great Airbrush. This is my first H&S Airbrush and it completely changed my mind on how I saw all the hype and fanboy behavior for H&S, this honestly is an amazing piece of equipment and I can see now why Harder and Steenbeck are proud of their products. This airbrush paints beautifully, it cleans very easily, I've never had any issues with it leaking air or paint, the sliding ring next to the trigger makes this airbrush an amazing tool for a beginner and what makes it even better is that the Ultra can be swapped with EVO parts to transition it from a beginner's airbrush to a more experienced persons tool.

Yes
So only been airbrushing for a couple months and this one is worth more than it’s priced in my opinion. The first thing you will notice is how well it’s built ,they do send a test of the spray results with thin lines and dots on a card and it sprays great. It’s a large needle size but EASILY does thinner than hair line detail lines. Even without a lot of reduction to paint. If you are a beginner like myself the toggle modes really help when you are new to gagging how much to pull back. You do have to be careful on putting the needle back in after cleaning or changing paint. If you push the needle to far you won’t get any paint out but it’s not hard to get use to .I will probably buy more of this brand for sure.

I love it
This is a really good airbrush and I like it a lot. I bought it for my kid to learn to airbrush and I find myself using it as well. Its a little finicky with paint thinning but thats normal with most airbrushes I've used. You have to find what it likes to spray. Cant back bubble so you have to premix, but really we should be doing that anyway right? Its a good airbrush that has not given me any problems so far.

Best airbrush for beginners.
I wish I had known about this airbrush when I started painting, went through several different brands and struggled so much to do quality work. The H&S Ulta gives you a rotating color to help with trigger control which is always new painters biggest hurdle. The airbrush is also customizable, so as your skill progresses you can change components easily to get better and better results. If you are starting out or have been struggling with other airbrushes, I highly recommend you give this one a try.

Pros: • Superior Build Quality: The Ultra boasts a robust construction with a nickel-plated finish, ensuring durability and a professional feel. • Beginner-Friendly Design: Features like the Start Control trigger system prevent common mistakes by ensuring air is activated before paint flow, aiding in developing proper technique. • Versatility: The modular design allows for easy upgrades, including compatibility with parts from higher-end models like the Infinity. • Ease of Maintenance: The self-centering nozzle design facilitates quick disassembly and cleaning, making it user-friendly for beginners. Cons: • Trigger Tension: Some users may find the trigger slightly stiff initially, but it becomes more comfortable with use. • Finish Wear: Over time, the coating inside the paint cup may wear off, though this doesn’t affect performance. Conclusion: The Harder & Steenbeck Ultra airbrush offers exceptional value for both beginners and seasoned modelers. Its combination of quality, ease of use, and upgrade potential makes it a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about airbrushing.

I was skeptical at first, people say it's not the equipment but the user. As a new airbrush painter I have tried the "cheap" route and while my work has been ok, deciding to purchase the Harder Steenbeck Ultra 2024 was the best decision I could make this early in my adventure. It's everything the company says. The design is perfect for artists just starting out who might get disheartened by the tediousness of cleaning or clearing clogs, not getting smooth even finishes, or not having "the touch" for fine details. The stepped collar makes learning how to control the airbrush so much easier. The open nozzle makes aiming consistent and accurate. Full cleaning is a breeze with the simple construction. I am very happy with my decision and highly recommend this airbrush to anyone starting out, or experienced painters who might want to concentrate on creativity instead of airbrush technique.
