Good quality and fits well

I have several pairs of the older version of these shorts which I really like and have been sad that NB has discontinued them. I ordered the new iteration just to try them out because I’ve never been disappointed in the quality and usability of NB products. These, I am happy to say, are no exception. They are comfortable and have the exact right amount of leg room. I have fairly muscular thighs that sometimes make finding shorts that don’t grip my thighs a little challenging ( although I am not hella jacked by any means just a moderately active guy.) I like that these have enough fabric to hang nicely when standing but not so much that it billows in unflattering ways. Movement is really comfortable - squats, sitting, running etc. all great. I’ve ordered another pair I liked them so much. Only con for me is the price is fairly steep for a pair of shorts.

I was hooked on the Accelerate and gobsmacked when I learned it had been discontinued. Finding a lined 5 inch short isn't easy. But then when I settled down I saw New Balance hadn't totally lost it - they now make a nearly identical model - only better. The Sport Essential is basically the same dimencions as the Accelerate, but the drawstring has an elastic section which is nice, and the draw string lining is heavier. That was the part on my Accelerates that always wore out first, leaving the draw string exposed. They changed the location of the drawstring tie - on the outside rather than the inside on the Accelerate, but that''s not really significant. Still has the good hand pockets and the rest seems bacially identical. More expensive that the Accelerate but not prohibitive. It's an upgrade.

I bought these as a replicant of what was supposedly identical product 2 years earlier. They are lightweight and comfortable, but the pockets aren’t sewn properly and your phone will swing and dangle. They pill as well, so the quality has gone downhill since 2 years ago. Fit is acceptable, again, not as good as previous years. Fine in a pinch or as a backup.

Great fit and color. The brief liner is comfortable unlike other brands…Nike. Trusted running/gym shorts for over a decade. I utilized the shorts in the Marine Corps and have been a loyal customer since.

Nice quality as I normally find in New Balance. Nice and bright for safety as well.

The short’s inseam is not too high not too short just right for me. The fabric also has acceptable quality and quite comfortable.

Great fit. High quality shorts. Just what I needed. Last pair of NB shorts lasted 10+ years.
