Even without direct line of sight, the signal stays strong and reliable—something that’s critical during ceremonies and receptions. The auto-scan feature is also a huge time saver, quickly locking in the best frequency with no guesswork.Having both a handheld mic and a body pack (with lapel and headset options) makes this system incredibly versatile for weddings, speeches, and live announcements.Overall, this is a reliable, professional-grade system at a great value. Highly recommend for DJs, MCs, and event pros.

I’m the worship leader at a church running about 30-50 people on Sunday mornings. Like most small churches, our tech budget is minimal, and we don’t have a full-time sound engineer—usually, it’s a willing volunteer running our board.We desperately needed to upgrade our aging, drop-out-prone 2.4GHz wireless mics. Honestly, at this price point, I was cautiously optimistic—but it has blown our expectations out of the water.Setup & Ease of Use (10/10)Out of the box, the build quality immediately stood out. The receiver chassis and the handheld mic are all-metal and feel like tanks.Setup took maybe 10 minutes total:Auto-Scan & IR Sync: You push the auto-scan button on the receiver, it finds a clean local frequency, and then you hold the mic up to the IR window to sync. It’s so straightforward that even our non-tech volunteers can handle re-syncing if needed.Rack Mountable: It fits right into our standard rack setup without taking up a ton of space (1U).Sound Quality & Wireless PerformanceTrue Diversity Is Key: Because this is a True Diversity UHF system (operating in the 500MHz band rather than crowded 2.4GHz Wi-Fi space), dropouts have been non-existent. Our pastor walks into the aisles during sermons and near heavy steel beams in our building—zero static, pops, or signal drops.Handheld Vocal Mic: Clarity is warm and full-bodied for vocals. It handles high SPL (loud singing) without distortion and rejects off-axis stage bleed reasonably well.Bodypack / Headset: The included headset microphone works great for preaching. Speech intelligibility is crisp, and we don't have to fight feedback loops through our main PA speakers like we did with our old lapel mic.What We Love:True Diversity at a fraction of the cost: Reliable signal across our sanctuary and back into the foyer (~150 ft test with solid line-of-sight).Lock Function: You can lock the channel settings on the receiver front panel. This prevents curious kids or volunteers from accidentally bumping knobs or changing frequencies mid-service.Uses AA Batteries: No proprietary rechargeable packs that die mid-service; just standard AAs that last easily through 2-3 Sunday morning run-throughs.Minor Considerations:Gain Staging: The bodypack gain settings are sensitive. Take 5 minutes during soundcheck to balance the volume on the pack before tweaking the mixer fader.Included Lapel vs. Headset: The included lapel mic is decent, but for preaching/teaching, stick to the headset mic. Headsets stay consistent with mouth distance and give far better gain-before-feedback.The Bottom LineIf you run a small-to-medium church, mobile ministry, or school auditorium and need dependable, professional UHF wireless audio without destroying your annual budget, buy this set. I have owned the Phenyx Pro PTU-2U-1H1B for a couple of weeks now and I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. This particular system includes 1 handheld wireless microphone and 1 bodypack that can be used with either a lavalier or ear-worn microphone, or even a wired handheld dynamic microphone (requires adapter), providing flexible options for different situations.The sound quality is very good, delivering clear audio without interference. I found that I could easily move throughout our entire 1300-seat auditorium without worrying about experiencing dropouts. The range is impressive, allowing me to maintain a strong connection even when we took the microphone over 150 feet away to our mechanical/electrical room. The True Diversity Receiver helps to maintain the reliable connection from the transmitter to the receiver. This is a very welcome addition as there are no other affordable wireless microphone systems that offer true diversity in their receivers.Setting up the system was easy, thanks to the IR emitter/receiver, which is used to sync the frequency on the Tx/Rx units. The Bodypack is all-metal construction for long-lasting durability. I found the bodypack to be light enough to wear for long periods of time and clipped on to my belt without any problems. The ability to switch between a handheld microphone and a lavalier/ear-worn microphone adds flexibility for various presentation styles or for concurrent use. One mic could be used as a music directors mic or talkback mic depending on your use case.The durability of the Phenyx Pro wireless microphone system is very impressive. In my many years of purchasing budget microphones, I’ve always been disappointed with the build quality. The mostly metal construction feels solid, and I can tell that it's built to withstand the rigors of regular use. The battery life is about the same as other units on the market, able to last through many hours of use without issues.The only concern I have, and this is an area of improvement that I would like Phenyx Pro to work on, is with the included PWH-12 handheld transmitter. The handling noise is noticeably louder than what we experience with our Shure UHF-R, SLX-D or QLX-D Handhelds. If Phenyx Pro can improve on this aspect with a newer revision handheld transmitter, this system would be the one to beat for all the competition out there. With all of this said, you can reduce or eliminate most of the handling noise with a low-cut filter and gating, though not all sound boards will afford you this ability, so Phenyx Pro really needs to work on improving the handling noise. I just ask that they make a new revision handheld that we can purchase for existing systems.Overall, I highly recommend the Phenyx Pro PTU-2U-1H1B. If you’re in need of a reliable and affordable audio solution, this is it! This system has been used for two different church services and it has worked very well for us. If you're a performer, presenter, speaker, or a weekend DJ, this system is the one to pick for achieving professional-grade audio without the need to spend big $ on the “S” brands of wireless microphones.
