You can use this for more than just a smoking cloche!
I got this cloche and a whiskey smoking kit so I could have it available at a party we were having. The glass is sturdy (not too thin) and it's very neat looking. Using it was really fun! I mean, there's nothing to it but the way the smoke looks wafting inside it is cool. Since we really aren't super duper whiskey drinkers, I was left wondering how I could repurpose it until the next use, instead of shoving it in a cupboard under my bar and forgetting about it. I have done two things: I have put battery operated candles and flowers in it to make a lovely centerpiece. I have also put a fake skull in it as a Halloween decoration. Not what it was intended for but at least it has some versatility.

Absolute must-have for any cocktail aficionado, beautiful build, works excellently
I have long been a cocktail aficionado, even taking mixology courses and outfitting my house with an excellent bar. I had picked up an electric cocktail smoker that came with a cover you can put on the drink, but it wasn't the most elegant solution. So given the chance to try out this Cavir brand glass smoking cloche (definition: bell shaped cover) I knew I had to jump in with both feet, and I couldn't be happier. This smoker cover and base look fantastic and work like a charm. As my video showcases, once you get your smoker tube inside and turn it on, you're in for both a visual and taste treat. This is one of those things that will be a conversation point at your next party and your guests will truly appreciate the sites, smells, and tastes that it helps to bring. The build quality is very good for its purpose. I would have preferred thicker glass as I felt like I needed to handle it with grace every time I picked it up. Mind you, thicker glass would make it heavier and more difficult to handle. So, I can't really call that a fault, more than a preference. The only suggestion I'd make to the manufacturer is to relocate the smoker hose valve near the top. Since your smoke machine pushes air into the enclosed space, the excess air is forced out beneath the glass. With the valve so close to the bottom, I found that sometimes the inside didn't get completely filled with smoke as the escaping air pulled the smoke down with it. That being said, using a lower blowing setting on my smoke machine did help out a bit with that. But a higher input valve would ensure that the entire cloche gets filled before smoke starts to flow out from the bottom. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this beautiful accessory for my cocktail entertaining. I have no doubt that it will become a center point of entertaining my guests and will be something they remember. And in the meantime, I'll simply be loving all of the smoking options I can try out. Highly recommend!

4.5 Stars; works well, but it needs a little encouraging
This is the fourth cocktail smoking device I own and the second dome, though I like this one far better than my first dome. That one is plastic and too short. This is glass, well-made, and tall, allowing me greater flexibility for what I smoke. The quality of this cloche is really good. The glass dome is solid and has no odd spots or defects. The wooden base is the right kind of heavy and smooth, and the top fits neatly within its grooves, though even with this, smoke escapes. Itโs less smoke than with my other device, but it's something to note for people with sensitive smoke detectors or tight spaces. I hooked up the smoker from my other dome to this cloche to use it and attempted to smoke two thingsโa double cocktail in my mixing glass and a single cocktail in a DOF glass. In both cases, I saw the same problem: the smoke didnโt rise to fill the dome but sat at the bottom and collected. This meant it didnโt go far enough up the cloche to reach the liquid in either item. I found this result disappointing at first, but I discovered that if I quickly lifted or rocked the cloche (as shown in the second part of my video), some of the smoke dissipated, and the rest was forced higher so that it filled the entire space and reached my cocktails. Since smoke was already escaping from the cloche, taking this extra step didnโt add much more to my kitchen. After this extra step, the final cocktail was flavorful, well-smoked, and perfectly integrated. Moreover, it was worlds better than the overpowering smoked cocktails my shorter dome produces. Iโm not entirely certain why the smoke sits at the bottom of the cloche without the extra agitation. It could be because the input hole for the smoker tube is toward the bottom, but Iโve seen this design in other domes where the smoke filled the space without issue. Another possibility is that my economical smoking device might be (unsurprisingly) underpowered. A brief internet search tends to back up the second theory; however, the higher-quality devices recommended to combat this issue are far more than I want to pay, so I feel as if rocking the cloche isnโt that bad of a trade-off for a casual user such as myself. Whatever the cause, the end result and quality matter most to me, and in both cases, this cloche is exactly what I wanted. Four and a half stars rounded up to five.

Smoke didn't get above the top of my whiskey glass
This is a nice unit with a tall glass dome and wood base but the smoke didn't go above the rim of my whiskey glass, so it only smoked the outside of my glass and basement but not the cocktail. The smoke would just pour out from under the glass and I finally gave up when I filled my basement with smoke. I will stick with my infuser lid for doing cocktails and use this for other things like cheese.

make your own smoked spirits
ads another layer of unique flavor to my home whiskey and bourbon after dinner drinks! my wife now prefers smoked martinis ever since she tried it! with this glass dome, building and putting desired smoke onto our drinks becomes simple and easy. this always becomes a piece of conversation when preparing cocktails for our guests. works with cheese too but we have to leave the slices in the dome for a few minutes for the smoke flavor to get infused in the cheese just enough to pickup the smoky. definitely great to have!

Will use our smoking gun more now
We got a smoking gun a couple years ago but don't use it as much as we could - getting the setup with a container and plastic wrap and so forth was too much effort. I had been looking at the enclosures but they were about US$200 each. Too rich for my blood. Then I came across this. It's a nice glass cloche with a wooden base. There is an inlet port to attach the smoking gun. You put what you want to smoke on the base (the colder the better), cover it with the cloche, and fill with smoke. The smoke stays inside allowing more of the smoke to penetrate (unlike the glass top smokers). If you have guests, you can make a big presentation by presenting the cloche, lifting the lid, and allowing the smoke to dissipate revealing the smoked goodness.

Too Big or Not Big Enough, That Depends
If you're looking for something to make your smoked cocktails look more professional, this CAVIR Smoking Cloche will certainly help, but be prepared to do some experimenting to get the results you're looking for. The clear glass dome and wooden base make a nice impression on the bar, and the input port is an appropriate size for the typical smoker hose with a tapered fitting. The dome is tall enough to accommodate a large mixing glass or a 70 ml martini glass (see pics). A 100 ml "cocktail" glass is not going to fit, so you'll have to use the stemless variety or smoke your drinks in a different container and then pour them into the glass. However, this is where some experimenting and testing will be necessary. My smoker has both high and low fan settings, but even after running the fan on high for 3 minutes, I was only able to fill the cloche about two-thirds (see pic), meaning that only the rocks/Old Fashioned glass was within the smoke. Both the mixing glass and the martini glass fit too high in the dome. Since the smoke does not reach high enough, the contents of those containers would never get any smoke. I don't think this is the fault of the dome, but more an issue with how much air pressure my smoker can produce to push the smoke into the dome. Based on the experiments I've done so far, I think this dome would also work very well for making smoked salts or smoked garnishes, like "dirty cherries". A shallow dish or a brass coffee filter placed in the bottom of the dome should allow for plenty of smoke to reach the ingredients. Overall, I think this is a great addition to a home bar setup.

Fits the nozzle of my smoke gun perfectly, looks beautiful
I got a really cool smoke gun a couple of years ago that has a hose and nozzle attachment specifically for using with a dome, but I didn't have a dome and had just been using the glass topper infuser. I've been wanting to try smoking individual servings of foods for ages but it has always been a passing thought and I never picked up a dome. I was very excited to see this come up for review. My smoke gun nozzle fits inside the dome perfectly. There's a silicone grabber in the nozzle hole to keep it in place and keep the smoke in. The wooden base is grooved and the dome fits in it perfectly. It should keep the smoke contained inside very nicely. I am out of wood chips at the moment but have more coming. I will update after using this with some smoke, but it looks and feels very good.
