Review: Bought One for School and Home! - I really like the format of this book and ended up buying multiple copies for a friend and the school counselor. The book starts with an introduction with suggestions for how to get the trainee's buy in and how to structure the time together. It is easy to find topics to work on and each includes a worksheet and activity to help build that skill. As a parent, it really helped me work with the school to communicate an approach that would result in growth across different environments. Review: Important tool for working with individuals with social communication challenges. - I have been using Dr. Bakers Social Skills Training books for years with my patients, and am very excited about his new training manual. I find it very user friendly and the comprehensive scope of topics useful. He clearly articulates models of the key components of skills training, based on outcome research. The chapters focusing on creating motivation for clients to partner to problem solve, as well as generalize their skills once they become automatic are informative and helpful to pass on to parents. I also found the chapters on creating peer accepting environments inspiring. I highly recommend this manual to practitioners, school personnel and parents of individuals with any social communication challenges

Dr. Baker provides a well thought out approach to motivate and teach essential social skills.
Dr. Baker’s 20th anniversary edition explains his entire social skills training approach. He outlines many specific skills and how they can be taught in a manner that builds motivation in the learner, encourages the learner to generalize the skills, and seeks to involve the learner in the process. An individualized approach to target specific skills for the learner can be the most helpful.

Great book! Informative, comprehensive and useful
As with all of Dr. Baker’s books, this one is very helpful. I run a creative arts therapy center and consistently suggest this book to our parents to use at home and I give this book to all of our staff to help guide them on a day-to-day basis. Dr. Baker’s clear and informative approach works! I highly suggest parents and professionals have this useful manual on their bookshelves.
