Great album and pressing
The album itself is great but the pressing is also low noise and high quality.

This album changed my life.
I've had this album before, I just bought it again because I lost it in the divorce. Splitting up your records in a divorce is heartbreaking. lol This is one of my top five albums of all time. Her voice is sexy and powerful, and the music is eerie and super chill. And sexy. Light some candles and some incense, do whatever you do to relax, if you know what I mean, and you will completely be immersed in this album. I can't say enough about this band, let alone this album. I have several of their albums, but this one hits different. This is a Christmas present for everyone that I know has a record player. This album will change your life.

An album that gets under your skin.
Every girl I dated in the 90s owned this album. I never minded it, but it wasn't something a "dude" purchased. Ahhh the blissful ignorance of youth how I do not miss you. Recently bumped into this LP on a list of reissues on vinyl you should own. What the heck, ya can't listen to Mob 47 all the time... It's good, damn good. I don't know anything about this band, or the style (gosh this is described a lot of different ways) but I'd put it in the same league as Lou Reed. Placing it that highly as it's something that everyone should have on their shelf, even if you're unfamiliar with the band or anything else they've done. Much like LR's Transformer, the more you listen, the more you like it. Musically speaking this is far far from my usual style of room clearing/horrible production fast or super sludge heavy I regularly torture my long suffering wife with, this is "heavy" in it's own way. It burns, it smoulders, thanks to the vocalist ripping her heart out and making you look closely at all the little lines some past lover burned in. You can see this being performed on stage in a smokey lounge. Which leads me to ATMOSPHERE. Dummy has it in spades. This is my new rainy day album. It's not bad music to get laid to either...Just throwing that out there kids. The tracks are clean without being overproduced. The heavy vinyl sounds fine on my mid/high end system. Little bit of surface noise adds a lot of character, but their was quite a bit of it for a "new" Lp. I find this happens quite a bit ordering from amazon. I have a feeling their vinyl storage might make me cringe If I were to ever visit a shipping warehouse.

A Near flawless Album That Suffers from a Few Hiccups
If you’re looking for something smooth, and engaging, then this is the album you need to own. Really you should just get it regardless. I cannot praise Portishead is an incredibly tight band, and I cannot praise their musicianship enough.. Beth Gibbons has an extraordinarily beautiful voice, and when her melodies are expertly backed up with solid songwriting, and catchy hip hop beats you get some amazing songs. Unfortunately there are a few clunkers as well. I have tried to listen to It Could Be Sweet, and It’s a Fire so many times, but I still cannot stand them. These two songs are pretty hokey, and way too poppy, and don’t blend with the rest of the album at all. These two songs sound like generic radio pop, and actually ruin the pacing of the album because they stand out too much in a bad way. Still, even with my extreme dislike of It Could Be Sweet, and It’s a Fire, Dummy is a great album that I’ve listened to a lot over the years, and haven’t ever grown tired of. The other nine songs are amazing, and I really can't describe just how meaningful, and great they really are. I’m just tired of skipping past It Could Be Sweet, and It’s a Fire. Dummy could’ve been incredible if Portishead had excluded those two songs.

A seminal superb album. Trip-hop and beautiful vocals working together to produce an epic set of tracks. Vinyl pressing is good, no warps/clicks. Very happy.
