This product will stick to any flat surface, does not have to be glass-like.

I bought it a long time ago as a gift. I'd bought a posher looking electronic one and it was naff, but he loved this manual one I replaced it with. As far as I remember it peels and cores the apple at the same time, you have to slice it yourself.

Will it peel odd shaped apples

Probably. I found the apple peeler worked really well, the orange peeler less so. The cutting blade is on a spring that would most likely allow for irregularities in the shape of the apple.The Seville oranges may have been too soft and perhaps the orange peeler would have worked well with firmer oranges, but they wouldn't make good marmalade.
