While I love the look and fit of these boots, the construction is not as sturdy as other varieties of Sorel boots- within a month of light wear, the lacing grommet had disconnected from the top. While the boots are still under warranty, I do not care to pay to ship them back since the cost of having them repaired (and modified to prevent this from happening again) is low enough that it doesn't seem worth the cost of shipping and the 6-10 week loss of them. I contacted sorrel to see if they would recoup at least some of the repair cost, but (not unexpectedly) they were not open to it under any circumstances.I am going to have the boots repaired and modified locally, but I would not recommend these boots unless you want to also have them modified (and they are rather pricey for that). If you want a better boot but don't mind a mid calf length, the Joan of Arctic boot is WAY better built, and I had those for more than a year without any trouble (except replacing the laces, which is pretty normal)

Got these boots last week, ordered the pebble/stone color. Wasn't sure what size to order, some reviewers said the boot runs true to size and others stated it runs big, still some stated it runs small. Took a gamble and ordered my usual size, an 8 1/2 medium. Tried the boots on with medium thick cotton socks and my heel slips up and down quite a bit, which is annoying. Also, the boots are a bit big in the toe box. Maybe these will work with thick socks or a shoe insert, but I'm not sure if I'm keeping them. For $260, I have to love it, and I'm not completely loving these boots. On the plus side, the pebble color is cool, the workmanship appears to be of high quality, the wedge is not extreme, and there's plenty of traction on the soles.UPDATE: i decided to keep the boots after all and wore them to work. Got compliments from co-workers on these boots. I wore thicker socks and that seems to have solved the problem with my heel slipping up and down. Spent the whole day walking and standing in these boots with no foot pain or discomfort. The insoles provided by Sorel are soft enough to cushion your step and the wedge seems to have some arch support. The soles are rugged and provide good traction. Glad I kept them.

I wore these for the first time to two outdoor parties so I was standing for about 10 hours. They were really comfortable right out of the box. I have 15.5-inch calves and slim ankles by comparison. The laces allowed them to fit both, with plenty of extra room for my calves. Two things I wish: 1. that the shaft were higher (I'm 5'8" and they hit below the widest part of my calf) and 2. that I had bought them in my usual size instead of a half size up (I have a slightly wide ball-of-foot and I wear a 9.5 in Seychelles, Steve Madden, Frye, and Nine West, and size 10 in Cole Haan). The laces really don't take significantly more time than zippers and allow for better fit. You can make it extra easy by tying a little half hitch knot at the end of each lace so they don't fall out of the holes when you unlaced them quickly.

I followed advice from other reviews about this boot running large- big mistake- I should have ordered my regular size of 9.5, these were a 9. If you want to wear socks with these stay with your normal size. These boots a gorgeous and very well made with quality materials, I do wish they would have put a zipper in them for easier on and off, but maybe with my normal size they will be just fine. I never wear anything with a high heel but thought I'd give these a try and they are very stable with great cushioned insole and good rubber grip on bottom, I did walk around the house on hard surface floor and they are very comfortable. I ordered the pebble/atmosphere which is beautiful but I really wanted the cement which they didn't have. So boots run true to size, great quality, very stable and comfortable, beautiful color.

Tried to tighten the laces as much as possible, but the inner flap tends to bunch towards the bottom when walking or flexing my feet.

I love these boots...been eyeing them for well over a year now. I was able to justify the purchase at this price point and went for it. Arrived in 2 days (Prime) and packaging was excellent. I normally wear a size 8 and ordered an 8 in these boots. I had too much room even with a thicker sock so I had to return for a size 7.5. I am a bit concerned about the lacing system that others have mentioned...I can see where there may be issues (reason for 4 stars) especially if you need to make the laces super tight. Also just walking in them causes some chaffing on the lace loop. Cute boot though!Update: 7.5 fits perfectly! One thing I noticed is that with the size 8 I had to do a lot of adjusting of the laces, but not with the 7.5. Even when walking in 7.5 there isn't a lot of chafing on the loop laces and hardly any ankle gap or slouch as others have mentioned.

I read a lot of reviews before placing my order and was a little apprehensive about the size issues some have expressed. I went ahead and ordered my usual size and was not disappointed. I agree with at least one other person who wrote that the size was simply generous so you have room to wear thicker socks when you want. I have worn my boots with regular socks (see my other reviews on the socks I've purchased through Amazon) on two days in a row to work where I stand most of the day and find them very comfortable. The only discomfort I experienced is from what happens to me whenever I wear any heel and have socks on where, by the end of the day, the socks are tugging on my toes from standing on an incline all day. I love these boots!!!

I'm seriously in love with these boots!! I ordered a 7, I usually get a 7.5 but had tried these on in a store so I knew to get 1/2 size smaller. When the arrived early I was SO EXCITED!! I LOVE THEM! They are so comfortable! So well made PLUS cute!!! I wore them in slushy snow the first day I got them and was SO worried that I was going to ruin them but they held up so well!! Still look brand new!
