Purchased to replace an existing Insinkerator disposal. The old one lasted around 30 years (forget exactly when I put it in, mid 90's.) It was still running but sounded like one of the bearings was failing, and it had done its job perfectly. Quiet, took everything I could shove down its throat, including steak bones.This new one is even quieter. (A lot quieter.)And smoother. I pack the remains into it and it goes gulp..! I'm amazed how much improvement they've made in the last 30 years. If you're looking to move in a few years, I'd recommend a less expensive unit. But if you're like us and like where you live, nothing beats top quality. Not only will this unit last for decades, it will do the job better and quieter than any other residential unit on the market. (I also bought the matching cord to make installation faster and easier.)

The media could not be loaded. I was a bit hesitant to buy the Evolution 1 H.P. model. After reading a few reviews with claims of it sounding like a jet going overhead, it leaks, things like that, I was concerned there may be a quality issue. I decided to chance it and ordered a "used-like new" unit, saving a chunk of change. When it arrived, I found that it still had the sticker over the drain, the inlet for the dishwasher connection still had the plug installed, and none of the plastic baggies were opened. Win! I had also prior ordered a plug in-cord and the adapter kit for hooking up the dishwasher drain hose, which had arrived the day before. My old model was a Kenmore, which was made by InSinkErator. All of the hardware to install and hang the unit were identical, but I decided to take the old hardware out and install the new hardware. Whomever had installed my old disposer must not have had plumbers putty handy, but obviously had a tube of silicone, and this caused a bit of a cleanup headache. Once I had the install completed, I ran water and checked for leaks. None noted (except for the next day when I discovered I had put the washer on upside down on the P-trap), so now for the test. I didn't run water and hit the switch. It was so quiet, I started laughing. So much quieter than the outgoing unit, for sure! I ran some water, turned it off and on a few times, just to listen to it. Impressive! I am glad a decided on this model. I sat back and admired my work, let out a couple of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor grunts of approval, and moved on to the next project.

I needed to replace my old garbage disposal and finally decided to purchase this InSinkErator Evolution. It came with all the parts and tools needed to install. I don’t have any experience in replacing a garbage disposal but it came with clear instructions and I was able to replace it in about 1.5 hours. Looks very sleek, great build quality and powerful. It’s very quiet when in operations. I didn’t think it would be as quiet as it is. Very glad I purchased this.

Much better than the old 1/2 and 3/4 HP ones this replaced, eats pretty much anything.

This is the best garbage disposal on the market except for 1 flaw. Install could be easy except for adding the "new electrical plug" to your disposal wiring. Instead of using wire caps to easily screw on, they now have a AC plug you must install. It is very difficult with the thick copper wires to bend the wires so the plug can connect to the inside terminals on the disposal. I gave it a 5 stars besides this difficult plug installation. It is very quite and powerful.

Very quiet and a tad bit smaller in diameter than my older model. It takes a bit longer to grind things up, but does a through job.

Noise level is a big concern. This unit was to replace an Excel-4 (the discontinued big stainless steel-looking model). The plumbing doesn’t line up; upon closer examination, the drain is slightly higher than the original and lines up with the internal cutting/grinding blades. This creates considerable drain noise in a double sink arrangement —something we didn’t experience originally.Also, the internal base plate has some play in it that the prior unit didn’t have —it was solid. The auto-reverse feature was also removed.The connection collar was the same, and that helped with installation.After testing the new unit completely, I decided to swap back the original Insinkertor Excel-4. It turns out the leak was coming from the sink drain collar.Anyways, I’ll probably keep this unit for a rental rehab. If you want the best and quietest, search for the older original model Excel-4.

I have used this for a year or so and it is still working perfect. I have had no problems with it. Easy to install yourself.
