Does the pen work if I use it directly on the touch screen?

if your talking about an actual Laptop screen or tablet screen....no i dont think it will work. Its designed to use the mini tablet it comes with. There are much cheaper alternatives if you want a pen to work directly on a touch screen.

Is this compatible with Linux?

Yes, I use it with Linux mint and it works perfectly fine.

does this work as a full function mouse? Well made, good value piece of kit, but useless to me if it doesn't do all a mouse can.
