Basic. OK
Easy to fit and the push in cable clips made it easy/quick to wire up. The set up take a little time to get it to respond as I wanted, but is easy to make adjustments with the 3 knobs on the bottom. Bit utilitarian looking, like a ships bulkhead light but I was looking for something simple anyway. Will find out if it waterproof shortly as its on a west facing wall that gets a battering.

Motion lights for garage
I put this in the garage, saves me having to manually turn the light ON and OFF. Really practical and easy to install. I used to forget to switch the lights off. ๐ Not anymore

Hmmm...
Reasonable quality, worth ยฃ15, although not yet fully tested. Cover has to be prized off with a screwdriver, which feels a bit odd, but it didn't cause any damage. Terminal block was junk, so ripped it out and used wago connectors. Working space inside is far too small, making it a fiddly job. Unsightly as the side is not frosted enough, so the wagos are visible. It only mounts on the wall by two diagonally-oposite screws, which means it wobbles on an uneaven surface (a house wall was enough). Not sure how accurate the adjustment screws are, as a 0.01 mm movement made a huge difference to the illumination time! Will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Works a treat
Really pleased with this purchase. B&Q no longer sell this type of light, as was a replacement. Amazon saved the day. Working well, no complaints.

Old Tech PIR lets this unit down
Had my 1st PIR light in the early 80's from RS and it was still working OK when we move house 15 years later. Our current house has a garage and parking drive at the bottom of the garden. For a number of years now we have had a PIR lantern by the front door and three eyelid PIR's in the back garden to illuminate our normal passage into the house. Since the streetlamp by our drive was changed to LED it does not illuminate our drive very well. I decided to mount a PIR lamp over the garage door. I am now on my 4th light. The 1st was a LED floodlight which after 3 months failed. Only a small number of the LED chips illuminated, and the rest were dim or totally dead. The next lamp was a contained bulkhead fitting and after a few months this started to fail with the resulting light flickering and very dim. I wanted to buy to a lamp that had a replacement bulb like all my others, so I purchased a white eyelid light from Amazon. This lasted 2 days and then failed. On inspection in daylight, I found that the PIR was full of water/condensation. Hence the purchase of this lamp. the first problem with this lamp was that the lens has to be levered off with a screwdriver (very frightening although it is polycarbonate)). One of the lights leads had broken off from the back of the fitted connecter block and being a once only push fit connecter I had to change the block for one I fortunately had in stock. The setting up was OK but the sensibility adjustment appeared not to work. No matter it's setting the PIR picked up everything, including my neighbours in their drive across the road. I eventually sorted it out by trial and error with pieces of black PVC tape placed strategically on the PIR lens. I will have to see how long this unit lasts as at 78 I am losing the will to live.

Awful outdoor light
Have had an outside light like this for many years, which has given us excellent service. As with everything, it doesn't last forever, and when it packed up recently, I found this one, which seemed identical. However, this seems to be a very bad copy of the real thing. The electrical connecting block was one of those horrible ones where you have to push the wires in - I used the proper screwed connector which I cannibalised from the old light. Great I thought, get it connected to the mains, set it up, and look forward to it doing what it's supposed to - only it didn't. I tried everything, but it just didn't operate correctly. Several times it came on in the daytime, and wouldn't go off. The little adjusting knobs underneath are very poor quality, and do not seem to have any effect on the performance of the light whatsoever. I would have returned it immediately if I hadn't replaced the electrical connector, so, it went in the bin, together with the old one. I ended up buying a Luceco light from a well known high street store, which was much better quality, easy to install and set up and is working perfectly. I've bought hundreds of items from Amazon over many years, and my 'don't buys' could be counted on one hand - this outdoor light is at the top of that list.
