If you connect the as gps hs to the helix 9 and that unit is connected to a 5 port Ethernet switch any other unit can select to use that puck as its gps source. Your Ipilot has its own simple heading sensor that will Bluetooth to your motor for spotlock purposes only. Are you trying to use this as gps hs for a dual purpose?

You don’t need the GPS Heading Sensor which is what this is. You only need the heading sensor. It’s basically a compass to help with spot-lock and make the jog feature work. This will plug into your unit and show the actual direction your boat is facing when sitting still. You can also select this as your GPS source and mount it directly over your transom mounted transducer.

Will this work on my 898 C?

Yes, it should. Worked well with my 1199 so I don't see any reason it would not work with your 898
