The customer counter was easy to set and place. It runs off regular AA batteries. I tested the counter to see how accurate it was. I passed it 40+ times and it counted everyone of them. Batteries have ran a long time so far and have not been changed.

Simple. Just put in the batteries, choose to count with each pass or every other pass, set them up looking at each other and confirm the signal (indicated on the display) and you're good to go.MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISPLACE THE RESET KEY.I'd make a few changes, thus the 4/5 stars.First, the display could be clearer as to whether the signal is being received well or not. It's currently a line and a circle, but I could forget that tomorrow. Why not an X and a check? or a red or green? Maybe the manufacturer doesn't want colors, and I get that.Second, why not an option for a tone? These things are >$100, and no tone? I don't want a tone myself, but the option would be nice.Lastly, and this is a big one, the reset function is a pain in the butt! You have this little magnetic key that you have to keep up with and hold over the reset area for 3 seconds. What?!?!?! Why not just a reset button? I assume it's so people won't reset the unit without the owner/operator knowing? But couldn't you have hidden a button somewhere then, like behind the battery door the way the other little switch is hidden? This just seems like I'm going to lose the key and be hunting another magnet.It will accomplish my goal, but could be improved upon.

Device began with accurate counts but now VASTLY overcounts traffic into the tens of thousands when at most there are 100 people.

This people counter is exactly as it says. I have a friend who owns a mom-and-pop grocery store and he let me try it out there. I spent the 3 days manually counting the customers and at the end of my time there it matched. The counter was easy to install and came with very simple directions on its use. The counter has rugged housing so it can take some punishment, bumping into it etc... All in all, I would recommend it for those in need of people traffic monitoring.

I found the reset to be a little finicky, and the counter in the initial test to also be finicky. In our early testing before permanently mounting in the intended spot, it seemed to go back and forth between not measuring anything and rapid over-counting. We may see if we can temporarily mount it in the real-world intended position to see if it is any better, but it is hard to commit to mounting when it seems so inconsistent.
