The Descent 2 [DVD] (2009)

What a Film...Now this film would have you on the edge of your seat, I'd watch ( The Descent ) first though, then number two but up to yourself...number 1 sets the story line though...... so wanted the sheriff to have a horrible death in this film because he was so awful and bossy to everyone, won't tell you how lol....Didn't know he'd died in real life September 2021 age 70, you'd recognise him straight away, been in some great Films....

!!!WARNING. MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!A search is underway for a missing caving party of six women, presumed lost somewhere in the Appalachian mountains. Then a survivor, Sarah(Shauna Macdonald) turns up, suffering from shock and amnesia. Unable to get any sense from her, Sheriff Vaines(Gavan O'Herlihy) is insistant that she should join a rescue/search party for other survivors. Using a dilapidated old mine lift, the small group descend into the cave system. However a terribly mutilated body is soon discovered, and Sarah suddenly comes under suspicion from the others. What they don't realise is that very soon they will need Sarah very much as they come under attack from a vicious and very deadly assailant.I've got to admit this turned out to be a pleasant suprise. I really wasn't expecting very much, and this film is a very competant if formulaic sequel to a slightly overrated horror film. A lot of vitriol is aimed at the film by some quarters for existing in the first place and for being a sequel to a film that didn't require one, but I think it's better just to sit back, disengage the brain and enjoy it for what it is, an action packed, gory horror. What is missing in this sequel is any originality that sets it apart from its predecessor. Okay, there is a very silly ending that tries to prove that blood is thicker than water, and the subterrainian creatures are slightly different, but thats about it, and the characters this time round are not half as well drawn as in Neil Marshall's original film. One thing that is present and correct are the obligatory bloody set pieces, the best probably being a tooth and nail fight in the creatures toilet.To sum up, an enjoyable no-brainer, but I do hope that they leave the series as two films, now all loose ends have been tied up. To make any more would seem to me to be a cynical money making enterprise.The DVD is presented nicely, with a nice interactive menu and plenty of extras. 4 out of 5

Bought decent 1 and 2 same again region not stated this is not on bloody region b again south Africa can not watch those unless to me

There are lots of similar film but these are one of my favourite horrors. I just wish they made a third and then finished after that one.... More details on that man... Did Sarah and the police woman actually die? Especially the police woman

Wow what a fab horrible film! I was glued to my tv set watching this and had my hands on my face as I was so ready to shout out! Very atmospheric. I watched the first one and thought it was really good but the second one is even better, scared the pants off me!! I won't go pot holing now....never...really really creepy film and had me holding on to the edge of my seat. If you love a good horror and being scared you will love this....hope they make another one! And watch it with someone else otherwise you won't sleep!!

Buon sequel per il già notevole film fi neil Marshall. Qui si prosegue la storia con la stessa protagonista (più una sorpresa), che ritorna nelle stesse grotte del primo film. Dato che in italia manca all'appello, bisogna buttarsi sul blu ray inglese, che tra l'altro ha una bellissima qualità e un ottimo carico di contenuti speciali.

Ein paar Jahre mussten wir nun warten bis uns endlich der 2. Teil von THE DESCENT beschert wurde. Ich kann mich den meisten hier nur anschließen, Es hat sich wirklich gelohnt!Der Film setzt DIREKT an den ersten Teil an und es dauert auch wie gewohnt nicht lange bis es einem das erste mal vor Schreck vom Hocker haut.Was mich persönlich auch sehr gefreut hat ist die Tatsache, dass der Score 1:1 vom Vorgänger übernommen wurde. Das schafft gleich von Anfang an wieder eine geniale Atmosphäre und man ist sofort wieder mitten drin.Nun, kaum zur Ruhe gekommen muss unsere Sarah zwangsläufig mit einem Rettungsteam und einem Cop wieder in die Höhlen steigen. Ihre "neuen Kletterpartner" wollen das Rätsel um die verschwundenen Frauen unbedingt lösen und sie lebend wiederfinden. Sarah, die offensichtlich einen totalen Blackout erlitten hat, erkennt erst in den Höhlen wieder nach und nach das sie wieder mal die Pforten in die Hölle betreten hat...Lange Rede kurzer Sinn: Der Film ist der absolute Hammer! Selten hats mich so dermaßen in einigen Szenen gerissen wie hier. Die Schockmomente kommen teilweise absolut unerwartet und urplötzlich. Die "Crawler" sehen hier noch gruseliger und brutaler aus als im Vorgänger.Fans von "The Descent" kommen am zweiten Teil gar nicht vorbei - Das ist Pflicht! Leute die sich dafür interessieren müssen aber zuerst Teil 1 anschauen, da sonst die Story überhaupt nicht nachzuvollziehen ist.Ob der Film "brutaler und blutiger" als Teil 1 ist?Das würde man vielleicht erwarten aber ich hatte nicht den Eindruck. Dafür bin ich im zweiten Teil um einiges mehr erschrocken.Bild und Ton dieser Blu-ray sind optimal! Selbst in sehr dunklen Szenen ist hier so gut wie kein Rauschen zu erkennen. Absolut optimal für einen Film der sich Hauptsächlich im Dunklen abspielt. Der Ton ist auch glasklar!Die Extras der Scheibe bin ich noch nicht ganz durch aber es ist ein Making of, Trailer (zum Film), andere Trailer und noch eine Handvoll Extras drauf. Zudem gibts hier ein heiß ersehntes WENDECOVER!PS: Freue mich schon auf Teil 3! ;-)
