This works great for preventing purple fingers while flossing
This item is perfect. I was hesitant to buy it at first due to the bad reviews, but the video really does explain how to wind it and I think the reviews are ridiculously negative. I was simply looking for something that would hold whatever floss I wanted (I use dentotape but after trying it, anything would fit) and not cause my finger tips to turn purple and painful. The reason I hate flossing is because of the finger pain! I wrap the floss like the posted video of the item then once the floss is where I want it I use my finger to push it between my teeth and the handles to scrape the floss up and down and around. The handles let me keep the floss as tight or relaxed as I need and the metal posts hold the floss ends instead of having it slip out of my fingers. I was able to take more time and care while flossing because I wasn't losing circulation to my finger tips. I would also like to note that the metal is finished well.. I was a little worried that it would be stamped out and have rough or sharp edges but it's very smooth and comfortable to use. Nothing is sharp. I spent way too long looking for something like this so thank you to the manufacturer. Well done, will recommend and would definitely buy again. Giving this tool a horrible review is just silly and I don't understand what they were expecting.

Gamechanger
So simple, but really lets you get everywhere in your gob that you need to. Floss doesn't slip. I use to have to stick my whole hand in my mouth to floss, or use those plastic thingies which my dentist says are too tight. But these things let you finesse the floss wherever you want without slobbering all over your hands.

Every dentist should sell these.
When used properly, they elipimate floss fingers. I wish I had these since I was a kid. 10 out of 10 wouod recomend. And the cheap floss is actually realy good, better than most name brands.

Shouldn't have been metal.
This is an amazing idea using the wrong material. One use and I realized how bad an idea metal was for this. I have to work to get floss between my teeth and more then once the metal clanged against my teeth in the process. Is it enough to chip a tooth? No idea. But I'm not risking it. I'm going to look for something similar in plastic.

Good, but not quite the answer for me
It has the advantage of being able to wrap round the tooth to get all the floss available surface clean. It’s just a little more work than I wanted to invest in learning to use it and to use it long enough to develop good coordination so my flossing is quick and efficient.

Love them!
I love these so far. So much more comfortable than wrapping floss around my fingers. They also save a lot of floss. I only need like 6", and it seems like, with practice, I might figure out how to use even less. I was worried about banging my teeth with the metal, but I just hold these like 3" apart, pinch the floss on either side with a thumb and index finger or guide the floss with my thumbs, and the holder doesn't really enter my mouth. No moving parts, stainless steel - these may outlast me! I'm grateful these are out there and I found them! Only complaint would be the hole is too small to hang on a nail or Command Hook, but I guess it's a standard-sized hole because some of my other dental tools are the same. I haven't had these long, but there aren't a lot of options for floss holders, so whatever flaws these have, are probably inevitable, or else you'd see more out there, and with better reviews.

uncomfortable in the mouth
I found it very uncomfortable to use: the stainless steel extends about 3/16" of an inch past where the floss is held, so one end is always jamming into your gums or the inside of your cheek.

Perfect tool to prevent finger floss pain
This is exactly what I've been needing. I get terrible pain in my fingers winding floss around them, so I wanted something that just holds floss tight and lets my fingers maneuver the string. This does exactly that, and now I can floss without that constrictive pain in my fingers while retaining all the control of using the floss, unlike the U shaped tools. U shaped tools also don't work with types of mandibular tori. I'd previously been using some other things but the way the ends on this tool have the notches just really do the trick. Also it's not plastic. If you have issues figuring out how to string up the floss on the tools, they have a simple video here.

This is the only product I have found that can easily fit into a bag, not plastic, has the same effectiveness as using floss with fingers, but allows me to reach places in my small mouth that my fingers can’t reach
