Is this product owl friendly? Would hate to lose our owls as a result?

I would be cautious about poisoning mice/rats with anything if you have owls around (or pets which might scavenge). Yes the bait stations will stop anything else eating the poison you’ve put down but unless you are sure you’ve collected all the bodies you’ll have poisoned rat carcasses around which other things may eat and get secondary poisoning. I suspect an owl would manage a baby rat even if not a full grown monster. Wikipedia has quite a thorough listing of types of rat poison and the side effects and risk to wildlife of each one. If you’ve got something else around you want to prevent poisoning I suggest you have a read and choose accordingly.

Can these blocks simply be placed or do they need to used with a device?

They need to be secure as they will poison anything that eats them. So you can monitor consumption, they’re best nailed to a length of wood Which can be slid under a shed or decking Or under a piece of guttering. Anywhere rats are running. Keep replacing blocks until they stop eating it.

I like the idea of this bait, but worried that if it kills the rat and a cat eat the rat.... Would it kill the cat??

Probably but I’ve been poisoning rats for years and not found a corpse yet. Also, do cats actually eat rats? They’ll Chase them and play with them but soon get bored.

where did you find dead mice?

I only found one because when rats and mice become ill they hide themselves away precisely to avoid predation. When they die in the house it is very hard to find them. Traps have at least one advantage. All the cats that cross my garden daily are still there. Hope this helps.
