what would be the best recommended battey for this truck?new to electric rc always been into nitro

If you want it for long, long drives I would highly recommend "Zeee" 4s 9000 mah 100c batteries. If you want to do high jumps the I would recommend using the same brand but with a lower mah because they are lighter. These have been excellent batteries for me. I used them on all my cars. Costumer service is excellent.

What kind of plug does it have?

The traxxas ID plug. Its their new plug but the old style traxxas plug fits in it and works just fine.

What upgraded motor should I get for my xmaxx ? Or just get the same stock one

The stock motor is plenty powerful especially with the upgraded gear that comes with the kit. But if you're really looking to make this thing do 80 mph or something then probably the castle xlx 2
