Works like a ัharm
Used on 3/4 copper pipe to replace main water valve. Pipe get frozen after 8 min slowly sprayed. Almost whole can used. Because I have just 8 inches between jacket and pipe ice pops out when I screwed in new valve. But dangerous part was done already. Key point is ะตั be prepared : sand pipe, get ready all the tools. Leave main valve open to allow water to expand. Close all toilets water, ice makers, air humidifiers, etc. Make sure there's not a single small water movement in the system - this is why so many negative feedback, thought.

Two to three second spray intervals!
Works like a charm if you take your time and use 2-3 second squirts! 3/4-inch lead pipe water service. I was able to freeze with short bursts in about 15 minutes or so. Used an entire can and yes it would leak every so often. I would back off as soon as I saw any drips for a moment to allow it to set and then continue. Just tie off the bottom if you're doing vertical piping like me and maybe even use the extra zip tie but it worked. Product definitely doesn't deserve all of the negative reviews! Snug it up as best you can and take your time.

Total failure as a product
Arctic Hayes ZEK2 Aero Pipe 2 Jacket Freeze Kit 8-28mm (.75-1") Dia. pipe. I bought this after my brother, a former plumber, told me about freeze plugging charged water pipes in order to make repairs. I needed to replace a stuck gate valve in my hydronics heating system, and had no way to completely vacate the line, nor did I want to. The pipe was a vertical 1" Type M non-rigid copper riser, so it was not a thick walled pipe and well within the parameters for using this product. After following the instructions "to the letter" I emptied the entire can of refrigerant as directed, and waited the 5-10 min. suggested for the refrigerant to take effect and create the ice plug... it didn't. And in fact it never even came close to creating the plug. It's not like the pipe had flowing or hot water in it, the line had been closed for several weeks. Nor was there any pressure in the line to dislodge the ice plug, the plug simply never formed. I would have to classify this product as a complete failure; hands-down, probably one of the biggest waste $55 that I've spent. Fortunately, I did not trust it from the get-go and purchased a SharkBite valve as the replacement just in case. Turned out to be a very wise decision since I had to very quickly install the closed valve while the pipe dumped water into a bucket. Bottom line; I feel this product is a complete farce that fails to live up to its promises. As such, I would not recommend it. I hope this review helps you in some way when considering similar projects. (As a side note; there are places you can rent professional CO2 freeze kits, but they are not cheap and take some skill to use them correctly, so it might serve you well to consult a licensed plumber first.)

WORKS
I needed change the Watermain going from the street to the house at the curb. This worked like a charm to freeze the pipe so I could change the defective curb stop otherwise known as Watermain at the curb. I cut off the defective valve and then installed the new one without a hitch. I highly recommend it!!!

Worked as advertised
purchased because i needed to add a shut-off valve to a line and i had to wait for the building super. the only complain is that i do not know how much to spray or when to stop because i do not want to also burst the pipe.

Is this product even safe to use?
I read the reviews and there were a lot of negative comments about the pipes not freezing and general dislike for the product, but I pushed those comments aside and purchased it anyway. I had to replace a pressure relief valve on a closed loop HVAC system. Whoever designed my cooled water system failed to put in a shutoff valve for the eventual replacement of the pressure relief valve, so creating a frozen water block seemed like a great option. Like many other reviewers, this did not completely freeze the lines. Could have been that my closed loop water system has antifreeze in the water, could be the product is garbage like the others said bottom line is it did not completely freeze the water in the pipe. I think it did freeze some (and I used almost all 300 ounces of the product. Most disturbing about this product is that it set off our Freon detector system. The Freon detector system triggers an alarm when the Freon level in the room is above a safe level. Both the R-134a and R-22 detectors went into alarm - significantly into alarm. The detected level was 2-3 times higher than the safe level. God knows how this might affect people in a fairly enclosed area (the room I was in is about 40 feet x 40 feet). I would be very cautious about using this product and do not recommend it.

Great Quality and Works Great!
We got this to switch of a Valve and it worked great! You do have a time limit with working with this product but it worked out great for us. It's easy to use and comes with everything you need to make the ice plug.

Great product. Worth it.
Great product. Used it like it said how to and it worked perfectly. It never froze it for the full 30/ 40 minutes. But it did work for around 15 minutes. Enough for me to cut and replace a valve with a shark bite valve. Thanks again.

Excellent, worked well.
Our Cockstop tap was leaking and we couldn't find the outside manhole tap to close it. (Old building 1847) This worked exceptionally well. We just needed to freeze the one side of the pipe and replace the tap. It was very easy to use and I would use it again.

Does the job perfectly !
I wanted to remove 6 old TRV's (Thermostatic Radiator Valve) on radiators and fit new ones but that I didn't want to do was do them all in one go (I actually did one a day !), and I also didn't want to drain the whole system either... enter this great kit ! Please not one kit will do TWO radiators, so I needed 3 kits. First you should fully close the valve at the opposite end where the TRV valve is (usually has a small push on cover over it) then next fully close the old TRV... i.e. set to lowest setting (1)โฆ then slacken the nut from the TRV nearest the radiator, thus allowing all the water to drain from the radiator - on my smallest radiator it took 2 dishes of water, so make sure you have a bucket or two to empty the water into (there will be more water than you think) and a couple of old towels in case of leakage ! Next it was time to use this brilliant kit... you first fasten the blue insulating sleeve around the pipe using the sliding fastener provided and then secure it 'very tightly' at the bottom to the pipe with the cable tie provided. Then you attach the little pipe to the aerosol and squirt the cold spray into the jacket pushing the nozzle into the inside of the jacket, next to the pipe. You need to keep topping it up a little at time until you have used half of the aerosol, and you then need to leave it about 5 minutes so the 'ice plug' form in the copper pipe. (Full instructions are included.. PLEASE READ THEM, this is just a quick summary !) After 5 minutes or so I slowly opened the TRV to maximum (6) to make sure no water came out (this shows the ice plug has formed, if you get water coming out, close the valve again (1) quickly and squirt more aerosol in... but I had no problem with any of my 6 valves) you can then remove the old TRV and in my case I used a professional pipe cutter which you put on the pipe and turn it one turn but you can use a hacksaw then file the top of the pipe smooth, it just takes longer and is more fiddly. After removing the old valve to can fit the new one, I made sure the new one was closed (once again, set to "1") and have the nut and olive to hand so you can fit it to the pipe straight away... don't forget all your tools too, so you don't have to go out to the shed for 10 minutes to find them, the plug could melt in that time, please, please, prepare ! The pipe should stay frozen for up to 20 minutes, but I managed to change each valve in 5-6 minutes max. When that is fitted, attach the other end of the valve to the radiator, remove the blue insulating coat by cutting the cable tie and removing the slider... open the valve at the other end of the radiator, then wait 10 minutes or so for the pipe to fully thaw out and check for leaks... bleed the radiator at the top, then you can fire up your central heating and once again check for leaks. This freezer kit is excellent and really saves you a lot of time and trouble draining the system, as you have to attach a long pipe to the lowest drain point of the system which then has to be run outside of the house to get rid of all the water. Trust me it is not fun and takes ages, then it takes ages to refill the system, this kit is SO much easier ! Hope this helps !
