This book is amazing! Not only does it teach the skills but is shows you how to make equipment with everyday items at a fraction of the price. I had my students all make sock poi and they felt so engaged because they had made them.

Jackie Leigh Davis' DIY Circus Lab is the perfect book for its time. With the rise in popularity of circus arts in schools and in after school programs, many children are asking how to join in. Jackie's beautifully encouraging and inclusive approach to joining the circus is just the encouragement young ones need to take charge of their own projects and get physical. All the make-it-yourself projects are tried and tested by circus educators. I highly recommend this book as a gift for a child who could use a little creativity and wonder in their life.

What a beautiful book, beautiful to the eye and to the heart. DIY Circus Lab distills many of the best teaching techniques and ideas that circus professionals have been using for years and added some wonderful new ones. I worked in the world of circus for decades, I've seen Jackie in action (she's amazing) and I was completely fascinated with the clear descriptions, the insightful sidebars, even the safety notes. And the pictures of young performers demonstrating the moves made my heart sing.

This author has lived and breathed a lifetime of circus arts. She writes from a wealth of experience and education. I have seen the delight she has sparked in the children she has taught....it’s a great book!!

Great book,especially for those people who want to start their own mini circus! The author is a great person in the social circus field. Cant wait to use the book soon.

Jackie's book is well researched, fun to read, and easy to engage with. No home, library, arts education program, or community organization should be without this book!

What a delightful book, a feast for the eyes and the imagination! The explanations of technique, construction, history, and showmanship are all consistently spot-on, and the author's enthusiasm for circus positively contagious. The book is lavishly illustrated, and there are also online videos to go with each chapter. Youth circus is growing by leaps and bounds, and it could not have a better evangelist than Jackie Leigh Davis.

Love this book, it’s a great introduction to circus, circus techniques, and some great DIY crafts to make juggling balls, hula hoops, etc. the end of the book List places where you can find circus classes in your area, except it only shows the US and I live in Canada so not super relevant but otherwise great book!
