Update #2: My dog has now been on Ketona for a year and a half. He loves it and he doesn’t have any health issues. Still no seizures. He gets a little drizzle of hemp oil on his food along with some powder to keep his teeth clean. I’ve thought about switching him to a fresh food or raw food, but he’s doing so well on Ketona and I find it to be a fair price so I’m keeping him on it. Update: My dog has been on this food for 4 or 5 months now with no seizures, not a single one. He’s super energetic and his coat is super soft and shiny. He had been losing the fur on his ears and chest, but it’s all grown back now. I added in a salmon oil supplement for him, too. I wouldn’t risk switching to another food. He’ll be eating Ketona for as long as it’s around. My min pin started having minor seizures after eating anything with a higher carb content. While the vet wanted to start him on hardcore meds that had tons of side effects, I thought I’d try switching him to a low carb diet first. Since starting on this food, he hasn’t had any seizures or digestive upset. He loves the kibbles and looks forward to meal time. We will definitely continue buying this great food!! Just as an FYI, we feed him small chunks of cold coconut oil, hard boiled eggs, boiled chicken, and cheese for treats now since most commercial dog treats are high in carbs.

During a recent visit to the vet, my dog weighed in at about 36 lbs. My doctor was like, yeah dude, this dog needs to lose some weight. I told her that because my mom is often feeding my dog treats or snacks behind my back, that it's really hard for any adjustments I make to actually be effective. I felt really frustrated by my situation because my mom couldn't see how what she was doing could in turn actually hurt him, and create health problems for him, so I thought, "okay, I'm going to try one last thing and see if it works." I was really happy when I found Ketona dog food. I had no idea there was such a thing: keto food for dogs! I'll admit this stuff is expensive. It's just about as much as Orijen, which is what we used before but I think the price is worth it. We've been using this for a few months now (we've bought the 125 lb bag several times already) and it helped his weight drop down to 32 lbs. It would be better if I could get it down to 30 but I suppose, given that I'm living back at home (thanks Covid), that maybe this is the best that I can hope for right now (given my mom's treat tendency lol). I will say that this food has made a big difference. My dog developed a problem with his ACL not long after that vet visit, so this helping him lose weight became even more meaningful. Some of the other modifications that I've made was changing his snacks, as well as getting him doggie steps (maybe he should have had them since he was a baby, I'm learning as I go, I guess). My dog eats Ketona twice a day and then any snacks we give him are pretty much 100% fish-based. He really likes the Icelandic brand, so that's been our go to. So, if you haven't tried Ketona yet, I say, give it a shot. It helped me and my dog when I felt totally hopeless and it's made a big enough difference that I don't have to worry about his weight nearly as much as I did before. Highly recommended!

I have been feeding Ketona to my two huskies (Sascha Fierce & Kokonut) for over two months now and absolutely love it! This is the first time in 9 years that I have been able to feed them dog food. I've always home prepared all their meals due to lack of confidence in the dog foods available. This was both expensive and time consuming. Despite wanting to feed my dogs the best, I was struggling with the evidence that cooking their fats damages the proteins and depletes the nutrients. Since my husband does not agree with raw feeding, I didn't have many options. Then along comes Ketona with a raw alternative, low carbohydrate kibble that my dogs devour!! Unlike most weight loss blends, which are high in carbs, Ketona has about 70% less carbs than other kibbles on the market. For those of us who are Keto enthusiasts, this is literally the best thing to ever happen to pet care. There's a lot of science out there that indicates the processed food we feed our pets has caused them to have the same chronic diseases as humans. After losing my sweetest fur baby, Mishka, to cancer, I want to do everything I can to keep the others performing optimally, in the hopes of preventing disease and maximizing longevity. So far we are seeing positive results. My dogs love the taste, were able to quickly transition with no digestive upset, and in 2 months, Sascha has lost 2 pounds. I really couldn't be happier. In a rush to get my two Shih Tzu puppies off of the Puppy Chow they came home with, I did a quick look around and found Ketona. Overall I like the brand, food smells much better than low quality stuff, small kibble size is perfect for my pups and poops are less but still more than I expected from a higher quality food. First bag I bought (from another website) seemed fresher than the bag I bought from Amazon. Kibble could be crushed with a spoon or strong fingers unlike the Amazon "rocks". Not saying it's Amazons fault as the expire date was still valid. Value for money? Although this food is of much better quality than most stuff on the market I'm not sure it is the best kibble my money can buy. I'm currently researching a few other brands that have a higher protein content and carbs are just as low as this one but the price is slightly less. If the price point wasn't so high I may have stayed content and never started my quest to find the ultimate kibble but its game on now. Money isn't really an issue but if I'm paying a premium I want the best. I will continue to feed this as I finish my research. At this point I wouldn't hesitate to keep this brand in my pups rotation of higher quality foods especially since there was no need to "transition", they switched over cold turkey without any digestive upset!

I can’t say enough about this dog food. I have read and searched for a true low carb dog food for my 11 year old active Springer Spaniels. After researching extensively over the years for quality dog food, I made the conclusion that I would need to start making my own food to keep my Springer babies healthy. I was reluctant to go this route because of how complicated it can be to provide the essential nutrients for aging dogs. I had followed Daniel Schulof a bit and liked his story. When he created this dog food, I was thrilled. Based on what I had read, I trusted his judgement more than the big companies. Fast forward to 9 months of feeding my dogs Ketona. I will preface this with the fact that my dogs are active. They do 5 to 7 miles a day on leash and running wild change birds on the beach in South Georgia. They both have food sensitivity and started to gain weight. Lots of weight compared to their activity level. Other dog foods were not satisfying their hunger so at times I was over feeding them. Their coats were dull and they were beginning to have fatty lumps all over their bodies. Since the switch, they are back to a normal, fit weight. The fatty lumps have reduced and some have gone away. Their coats are once again soft and shiny. My female was showing signs of weakening back legs. The constant tremors were scaring me. The vet told me I needed to cut back her exercise drastically. I did for a while until I could get her back to a normal weight. Her back legs rarely shake and she is happily chasing her tennis ball again since I switched to this food. This food is a little more expensive but it is cheaper than a raw diet. It is well worth the convenience. I have 11 year old dogs that most people think are 5. I can’t wait for my vet to see them next week. She was not on board with all my food experimentation. Like most vets, she has been trained to recommend food that doesn’t make sense for dogs.

My great Dane has IBD and requires kibble that does not contain grains. I did not want to go to the traditional grain free, because it has so much legume fiber- up to 45% and causes HCM and in other dogs besides giant ones! This is 87% real chicken not by products and the rest is legume. It has made so that my boy does not have continuous diarrhea that he gets from any other food including prescription ones for IBD. I love this food and it has saved my boy from getting on a bunch of prescriptions to keep him from having diarrhea vomiting gas etc. he has put on so much weight. Because it is concentrated protein you don’t have to use nearly as much dog food as you do with regular dog food. My boy weighs 130 pounds, And I only feed him 4 cups a day. He used to eat 7 cups of regular kibble. I was feeding him a raw diet because it was all he could handle. That cost me $225 a month. Keto naturals is about $96 a bag, when I get it monthly,and he goes through a 24 lb bag every three weeks. Much less expensive than feeding raw and he has better results with his stools. I love love this food! My boxer thinks it taste like candy and I have to make sure they are fed separately!

My dog loved it, thrived, and improved. She had previously been ailing from non-specific reasons. Within a month she demonstrated significant improvement. I didn't like the price at all. I could buy steak in the market for less price. I alternate her diet with one day kibble and one day either ground beef, roasted chicken, salmon, or ground turkey. I don't know what to think; my dogs likes it with respect to other brands of kibble, but the cost is over the top. I don't think its a good value. I feel gouged.

Honesty up front: I'm using Ketona as a kibble but I'll be switching back to frozen raw patties. This isn't an issue with Ketona, I just greatly prefer how my dog is on raw and how great his poops are, even though I have to thaw food every other day. It took almost a full small bag of salmon flavor Ketona for my dog to adapt. He had terrible poop, some of this was definitely caused by him eating cat poop, but still, even after a bit there was a transition time. Currently my dog poops fine. All you dog people know how important a good dog poop can be. They're not small and firm like on raw food, but they're totally acceptable. For a keto diet I'm still amazed at HOW MUCH THIS DOG CAN POOP! I'm on a keto diet and I don't poop as much as my dog. It's just like... amazing. Two or three before work, one on his lunch break, one on his afternoon walk, maybe one on his evening walk, likely one before bed. Part of my shock is due to switching off of raw food, I know, but wow, so much, all the time. I just find it strange since for a keto diet, there shouldn't be as much excess to get rid of, but then again, this is a kibble, there's dry fiber matter. I use a puzzle bowl to slow down my dog's eating. This stuff is super light weight and very dry! I had to slow down my dog's eating, he was inhaling the stuff, horking, and needing to gorge himself on water. Tip! This stuff makes a good wet food too. We use most of a serving as kibble and mix the rest, and any supplements, with warm water. Dog LOVES having second breakfast. I think we prefer chicken over salmon and I would buy it again if I needed an easier food.
