Game Changer in Efficiency & Error Reduction
This is an amazing product, and a game changer for people who need reasonable accuracy and are trying to reduce human errors. First off: it will not replace my normal tape measure which is always on my belt. But I use it when I need to take a bunch of measurements in a row, scoping out a new project, or for "high consequence" measurements (would cost me more than $50 in money or time if I make a mistake). If it would blow your mind that a measuring tape would require a firmware update, then don't get this product. Just keep on doing what you're doing. Also, if you are not comfortable with the fact that it is electronic and you need to fairly often plug it in to charge, then don't get this product. Those things don't bother me and there is a lot to really like about this product. It greatly reduces errors and is super efficient. And if you're one of those people who never makes an error, then don't get this product. It has a big, bright display, works in all lighting and the e-paper list of measurement on the side is super useful. Its perpendicular laser is very useful and helps reduce errors when aligning things. Before purchasing, I thought the smart phone integration was a gimmick that I would never use. But it is very well designed, and I used it the first day I got it. Intuitive, and powerful. No more writing down numbers, then losing the paper, or mis-reading or incorrectly entering the numbers into a calculator. The Rock smartphone app (while relatively young in it's life) is pretty darn well designed and useful. My phone is in my pocket, but receiving all the measurements I'm taking, and you can organize by project and sub-project areas. I know all the tricks for doing fractional math, and can do it quickly. However, I end up making mistakes maybe 5% of the time, and this tool eliminates those errors. And wasted time/money in fixing the errors. This tool will not replace a caliper, if you need very high precision. But IMHO it is plenty accurate enough for most construction needs. Plan on spending an hour or two getting yourself familiar with the menus, buttons when you first get it. It's all very well designed, but like anything new, you should get familiar with it. Practice some with it and you'll realize the menu system on the tool (which at first might seem janky) is very cleverly designed for efficiency. I've only had it for 2 months, but it does seem very durable and well built. Great design for changing tapes when they wear out. It is fairly heavy, so it's not on my belt all day every day, but it *is* on my belt when I need it. When I first saw this product on a web page, I scoffed and told my wife that I would never spend $250 on a tape measure. But after doing some research, I did, thinking I could just return it if it was a piece of junk. So I get to eat my words. This is one of my favorite products in years. Reekon folks: great job! Looking forward to what else you come up with and/or improvements

A game changer.
Iโve been using this tape for about 2 weeks in a Commercial setting as a plumber. Been working indoors for rough-in in Ohio winter temperatures. Seems to be holding up pretty well. Ergonomics are well thought out. Took about 4 days of constant use to work my out of muscle memory with the traditional style tape measures and get use to this one, but it begins to feel natural. It is heavy compared to a traditional 25 footer but itโs not a big deal to me. I work with pipe diameters ranging from 3/8โ to 20โ so it isnโt a big deal to me. If anything it gives it a sturdy and solid feeling. You do always have the thought in the back of your mind of it breaking because it is digital and expensive relative to other tape measures out there but thatโs a personal issue lol. There is a learning curve to it. For me I was trying to use the digital readout all the time but I began to use it like a regular tape measure and use the features of the Tomahawk as I needed them. When I got passed that the tape really began to change the way I work. I began to use the ink display as a notepad. I would occasionally look at prints and look at layout measurements then pull out my tape to the measurement and save it and that why I can glance at the ink display for measurements when laying out. Also when Iโm doing calculations on a calculator I pull out the tape to whatever my calculations were and save it. The relative zero features is something I have been using a lot when pulling off of beams and measuring through penetrations. The laser is great when you need it. I will say that the holster clip that came with the Tomahawk broke the 3rd day. Iโve been using the tape with my Atlas46 chest harness and has been great. So far so good and Iโll update this review or leave another one in 6 months or if it breaks, which ever comes first.

Lots to like but also some significant questionable design choices.
The Tomahawk tape measure offers robust features along with some significant usability issues. Here's my experience: Pros: Durability: Built like a tank, it's designed to withstand rough handling. Customer Support: Responsive, though only available via email. Innovative Features: Includes multiple functionalities that typically require separate tools, such as a viewable measurement from any angleโa bonus for aging eyes. Cons: Calibration Process: While the tape measure is accurate, achieving this accuracy requires a complex calibration process that can be frustrating and time-consuming. Firmware Updates: The device frequently indicates that a firmware update is available, even after recent updates. But beware. If you apply a firmware update, whether its actually new or just the ever present message that says a firmware update is available, you will be back to step one, which is the calibration process, which isn't any easier the second time around. Charging System: Lacks a standard USB port on the battery; charging can only be done via a port on the tape measure itself, making the tape measure unusable while charging the battery. Have a second battery, you double this frustration! Battery drain has been improved with firmware updates but you will experience battery drain. Label Printing: The label printer requires the use of a smartphone app, which is impractical for use in conditions like working on scaffolding. Ideally, one should be able to print labels directly from the measure to their printer but the app middleman is a requirement. Despite its solid build and helpful features, the Tomahawk tape measure's design overlooks practical, real-world use. The calibration and charging systems, in particular, need improvement. I've communicated these issues to the company and received a standard acknowledgment but no substantive follow-up. Rating: While the Tomahawk is not a 1-star product, I felt these real world examples wouldn't be noticed if I gave it a 3 or 4 star review. The mentioned issues might deter some users. This is a real-world review aimed at highlighting the practical aspects of the product.

Great tool, little overkill...
It's hard to improve on a simple tool like a tape measure, but they manged to make a few improvements. It's nice to snapshot a measurement and not have to look everywhere for the pencil that you forgot is behind your ear. The laser is nice (as long as you're holding things perfectly still and straight. Find center is great. I'm still getting to know the tool, but so my impression is that it's not a "better tape measure" it's a tape measure that integrates all the things you normal do post measurement, right into the tape. Sounds stupid, but so far the biggest practical benefit is that I'm not constantly looking for my pencil, sharpening my pencil, writing measurements with my pencil I'm going to have to sand later, holding my pencil in my mouth and drooling a little bc need both hands to hold the tape and my glasses trying to see if it's a 32nd of an inch or 16th... Mostly this thing seems to have replaced my pencil and solved many annoying pencil things....

Very good! But not for fast work
The quality is amazing. I love the save function. I struggled to find an efficient way to use it during a construction project and it is simply too bulky for the fast paced work. BUT!!! For wood working like building complex furniture or framesโฆ.Magnificent!

Read this if you are deciding between REEKON T1 Tomahawk and ACEGMET DTX10
I am not going to go into too much detail on the REEKONS features and performance, since there are a lot of reviews and videos already. I will show some hands-on comparisons between the ACEGMET DTX10 and the REEKON T1 Tomahawk that may make your decision between the two a little easier. DTX10 back reference measurement was nearly 1/4" off. This seemed to happen frequently. I confirmed this by also using two other manual tape measures. Note in last two images, first shows measurement of back reference and next shows the DTX10 short (see gap). DTX10 Tape Brake is sorely insufficient. It appears they have chosen to put the brake on the tape reel inside, rather than on the tape itself. The tape is easily pushed in resulting in the tape on the reel expanding. You can then hold the tape in place, release the brake, and hear the real spool up all the slack inside. The ease of moving the tape does present a problem when measuring. Vertical measurements, where you extend the tape up to measure against a surface, plan on using two hands because the tape will feed back into the housing. You can see in my video the REEKON Brake works great. The DTX10 does not show quarters. Unlike the Reekon that displays 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and quarters when that is the actual measurement, the DTX10 requires you choosing 1/8, 1/16 or 1/32 as the mode, and it will only display that way. So if you are on 1/32 mode its going to read 16/32 for half. Of course, I know this is half but just display it. REEKON nailed this. DTX10 does not have, at least to my knowledge, any way of calibrating the tape or adjusting the laser. The REEKON has both. I have not tried just the T1, so consider that one as well. I suspect its performance is on par with the T1 Tomahawk.

Very promising innovation and digital tool
Well after fiddling with the T1 for a day or so here are my initial impressions and will update this review in a years time. While technically a tape measure, the rest falls into the domain of digital devices and apps Like all digital devices, it is only as good as the software and firmware written for it Bluetooth, which is what this device uses is the main avenue of communication, needs to work seamlessly That will depend on the quality of your iPhone or iPad or Android device By that, it implies that you will need to have a good comfort level of working with digital devices and computers Many folks do not and therefor I do not recommend this for them The Rock Jobsite app allows you to receive measurements for your project The app is ingeniously layed out for your jobs, be it framing, door jamb and door or window dimensions You can input measurements from a plan into your project and lay them out side by side with your live measurements on the go. Another example is if your table saw worker is say setup some 20 ft away in a shed, with the T1 you can measure and send the measurements to the table saw worker as you go. The possibilities are quite impressive The T1 Tomahawk is, precise, well thought out and has a huge potential if Reekon decides to pursue this project over a sustained period of time. a few things to note 1) make sure your battery is fully charged on the T1 and your app device 2) verify the calibration is what you assume it is 3) keep both the firmware and software app up to date 4) though technically speaking this is a tape measure, it is actually a mini computer/calculator/ digital device Like all innovations there have been and will be teething issues that iron themselves out as time goes on At this moment, it seems well resolved. Yes you need to move the tape to get the T1 to set itself to zero Yes there at times be some lag The green laser is very helpful for further precision as well as the mini pencil slot The E paper and functions on the tape measure alone are worth the ticket Yes it is expensive, but I see the money spent not only on the device but towards a company that is " on to something unique and innovative" This T1 Tomahawk to our surprise came with the protective holster. In conclusion we recommend this device IF you are comfortable with digital technology , if not its better to stay analogue and spend your money on a course in carpentry

A joy to work with
This might be pricey, but man is it ever a hug timesaver. I've found the accuracy to be really good; love the lasers to take offset measurements and the firmness of the tape to be able to make tiny adjustments. Super easy to consistently measure to 1/16th of an inch.

Ok
Great in theory, but I just havenโt found a use for it in everyday renovating. Maybe if I was a pro it would be more useful. Update: I'm getting more used to it. Solid tool with a learning curve.

Defective right out of the box
Very disappointed after waiting months only to never have the pleasure of seeing how it operates. Also the quality for the price is a 3/10. Only worth 40% of asking price.
