Westland Houseplant Potting Mix 10L Peat Free Soil

This brand of houseplant compost is the most common, popular one on sale in most garden centres, bargain stores, supermarkets etc. I have used it for many years and always get great results. The compost itself is a quality peat free compost, moist, stone/twig free and after re-potting or planting new plants all have adapted to compost quickly. I can also say that the compost when new is always moist and never has any Fungus Gnats so no need to treat compost after potting. It contains small 'rust' coloured pellets for water drainage and perlite for aeration and you can always add other mediums to suit your plants as this compost is an all round base compost. It can be used for most houseplants except ericaceous soil loving plants so most plants you buy from the stores will do well in it. This seller also had a very good price for 2 bags of this compost, in fact I paid almost the same for 1 bag from my local garden centre. Don't be put off by the size of the bags as once compost is taken out and broken up the volume expands. I have a variety of plants from Monstera, Schefflera, Spider plants, Prayer plants, Sansevieria, Ficus and they are all doing well and growing healthily. I can recommend for ease of use especially if you haven't got a garden/space or time to make up your own compost mix.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really nice quality mix! 🪴 Peat-free with a lovely light, crumbly texture — not too dusty, not too clumpy. Drains brilliantly so you're not fighting soggy soil, but the Seramis granules still hold just enough moisture so plants don't dry out too fast. Perlite mixed through gives roots plenty of air space, and the zinc complex seems to help them settle in quickly after repotting. Haven't had any fungus gnat issues either which is a massive win. 10L bag is a good size for several medium plants. Only note — not for acid-loving/ericaceous plants like carnivorous ones, but for my pothos, snake plants, calatheas etc it's perfect. Reliable, good value, my plants look happy — what more could you want? ✨

Quality and bag size is good .

Great compost, if not a little expensive. I’d purchased this with the sole purpose of potting up a peace lily that hadn’t done much for years. The plant was healthy but hadn’t flowered, so I thought I’d try repotting into a larger container and using this compost. Within a few weeks, new growth started to appear and to my surprise a few flower spikes emerged. My peace lily has been in its new pot for a few months now, and had tripled in size and has an abundance of flowers, I’m assuming all down to this compost. I have had great success with this brand, from orchid compost to succulent compost- all with great results and never had trouble with mould or gnat infestations. The bag is quite small so if you’re repotting a large plant please bear this in mind. This brand is now my go-to for house plants!

I love this product and have reordered it a lot. It’s a really healthy mix that promotes growth and is ready to use. I have 24 house plants and all have this soil now after repotting - ranging from delicate string of pearl plants to more robust plants like corn plants and pathos. Suitable for all. They’re all thriving, I’ve attached pictures of a few. The soil is not dense and is very airy, so water doesn’t get trapped for days on end. This is really good for the roots as they’re not sitting around water for ages - preventing root rot. Also, there are no fungus gnats or bugs which can appear in plant mixes. The bag size itself lasted me around 6 pots when repotting - so good value for money. I would highly recommend this soil for all house plants - especially for beginners new to houseplant care as it’s packed with nutrients! Hope this helps you decide! 🪴

I'm getting on so well with this soil, I'm a beginner gardener and have had no issues whatsoever with this! Drainage is brilliant, not experienced any water logged soil and it dries out really well. No bugs spotted so far either :) I started with a single basil plant from the supermarket. I planted it across two rectangular tubs filled with this soil, and have been bottom watering - they're flourishing and loving life in this soil, and they're now in desperate need of repotting into much bigger pots so purchasing some more! I propagated some from the original plants, and planted them in a different soil I wanted to try out, and while it is doing well, the original plants in this soil are definitely doing better!

Small enough to lift and use effectively

I'm very happy with this potting mix, I've tried other brands and personally find this to be the best. I tend to buy this when it pops up on offer as it's very good value. Ive compared prices to that on here and local garden centres and amazon can't be beaten currently. It's a nice plant base, the mix is of equal consistency, no massive lumps of bark or goodness knows what. The texture is light and crumbly as I imagine a good compost to be. I find it takes water in well and doesn't clump.up in the pot which harms the plants. Plants seem happy enough, there hasn't been any real growth as yet but there definitely hasn't been any deterioration after repotting either so it's a win for me. Zero gnats or eggs within the mix which I have found from compost bought in garden centres. Very easy to use, bag is very easy to handle and not overly heavy thanks to its handy size. I will be purchasing many more in the future.
