Affordable, works.
To my dismay, not only was this product orders of magnitude cheaper than OEM ($35 vs ~ $400) but somehow it also appears to be better built (so far). The latch itself is metal compared to the plastic on the OEM one. I suspect the actuator will not last as long, but I’m more okay with replacing this thing once every 2 years at its current price point. I’ll update if/when the item fails (posting this 3/2026). I’ve posted a video of the problem before replacing the latch, should it be helpful in other’s diagnosis. Came with the required tools (just an M8 and a T20). Vehicle: 2016 Golf R

Perfect fit. Easy install
This was a perfect fit and easy install for a 2009 Jetta Sportwagen. I liked that the took came with it, which meant I didn't have to buy anything else. No instructions come with the item but it's as easy as unbolting the old one and then bolting this one in it's place, after you pull off the door trim, which is also fairly easy. Videos online will show you how it's done. Even if you don't think you are mechanically inclined, try replacing this part yourself. You'll find it's an easy and satisfying job.

Quick and easy repair even for a gal with kid sized hands and some super basic DIY skills.
Watched a couple of YT videos and handled the repair myself. Took about 15 mins. Didn't have to remove as much of the panel on the rear as the videos showed. I have small hands. The time it took was due to the difficulties of my kid sized hands trying to get enough leverage to loosen the M8 serrated screws. Aside from that, nothing a little of determination, a small flat screwdriver head and headlamp couldn't fix with ease. So glad this was available on Amazon AND the YT videos were so easy to follow. Used the flat to pop the metal tabs back in at the end and everything was as good as new. Next DIY - replace the faulty push start button on Tigs. Button should arrive today. Save yourself the $300 plus labor. Just buy the part and allot about 15-20 mins to fix it yourself!
