Clean Fit but Average Tone
Swapping out the old head on my darbuka was long overdue, so this transparent replacement felt like a safe bet to try. Installation was straightforward and the fit was spot on for my drum, which I appreciated since sizing can be tricky with these. The material itself feels decently made and has a nice clean look once it’s tightened down. Sound wise, it delivers a bright, crisp tone that works well for practice and casual playing. That said, it didn’t quite blow me away. The bass isn’t as deep as I hoped, and the higher tones can come off a bit sharp unless you really dial in the tuning. It’s also fairly sensitive to hand pressure, which might be a plus for experienced players but took some getting used to for me. Not a bad replacement by any means, just feels more “solid backup” than a true upgrade.
