OK Radio
The unit is a PR1L, others advertise a PR1 as does the manufactures' site. I do not know what the L designation means. The instructions from the website and those included with the radio differ from reality. • The display is CONSTANTLY ON, but can be dimmed to low. On Dim it is pretty dim. There is no 'Backlight Timeout' which I could find in the menus, despite it being mentioned in the instructions. • Although not mentioned in the website PR1 manual, nor on the Amazon advert or its 'Compare with similar items', the unit DOES HAVE SLEEP MODE from 15 to 90 minutes. • The radio DOES WORK WHILST CHARGING. • The reception was good. It was about the same as an i-Box Pocket and better than the old Aigo pocket radio. I got 73 stations on DAB after scanning. • The radio is slightly slimmer than the above models. • The build quality is reflected by the price; it is thinnish plastic. The on/off/lock switch does not give me confidence for a very long life. The USB-C socket is a bit rough with the supplied cable. The display is very clear but just two lines. I will see how the earphone and USB-C sockets last. The earphones are standard for these radios and give good sound and are efficient. Using other earphones generally needs a higher volume level. All these pocket radios have very similar functionality suggesting a common IC, with slight changes to the firmware controlling the buttons and display. The radio arrived fully charged, according to the 'Battery 100' readout. I used the supplied USB-C to USB-2 lead (standard computer USB port compatible) and charged for an additional hour. To gauge the battery life with an as-new radio, I set the volume to standard listening level (level 4), tuned it to a DAB channel and had it display the battery readout. I left the radio playing on the desk, i.e. it had a stable signal, then plotted the indicated battery level against time. • The radio played for 12:31 hrs with the Battery indication going from 100 to 10, when it said Bye Bye and cut out. • Recharging to 'Battery 100', using a USB sourced from a computer monitor, took 2:54 hrs.

Amazing quality for such a low price
I like listening to radio in bed before sleeping. At home I have a bedside dab radio, but bought this for my rather frequent weekend trips. It was delivered very quickly and immediately put on to charge overnight. I was amazed by how many stations it tuned to, we are in a fairly poor reception area but it pulled in more stations than our mains unit. It is simple to set your desired preset stations. Reception is clear and bright through the supplied headphones which act as the aerial. I also tried it with my single side headphone, for laying on your side, reception was just as good, but sound a little less sharp. The whole construction is plastic, but appears quite solid and the led display is clear, bright and gives quite a bit of chanel information. Controls are simple and intuitive. All round I would say this is an extremely good buy for anyone who does a bit of travelling and enjoys radio.

Good radio, fussy charger
Bought this radio to take to the British Grand Prix this year. It worked great at the track and helped me hear the commentary over the noise of the cars. Much better than the disposable radios they sell for the same price. The only issue was that it seems to only charge on very specific plugs. I tried it on my phone charger, a portable battery and a laptop and it wouldn’t charge on anything. When I got home it charged on my iPad charger. It had enough battery to get me through the weekend so not a major drama but useful to know

Great little radio
Had this great little radio for a few months and it is just what I wanted. Picks up the stations I want and the sound is good. Agree with comments about the poor quality of the headphones, but what do you expect at this price! Swapped the ear buds out for Betrons and the sound is more than adequate. Also very lightweight and easy to slip into a pocket.

Poor functionality for a portable device
In comparison to previous portable DAB radios of various makes, this one struggles to cope with the minimum specification one would expect of such a device. It displays a poor sensitivity to the available DAB signal and loses station connection very easily with movement (including moving from one room to another indoors). Where there is a strong signal and one is stationary, all is well and sound quality is fine - I also particularly like the 'key lock' function - but in more realistic conditions the radio is disappointing.

Not great.
Bit disappointing. Sounds quality is just ok. Plastic casing very thin, battery life not as long as claimed. It switches off at random times (not the sleep function). Will see how long it lasts.
