Great storage for a good price
The Seagate BarraCuda 8TB 3.5” internal hard drive delivers a lot of storage for the price. Installation was simple in a standard desktop case, and it was immediately recognized with no setup issues. Transfer speeds are solid for a mechanical drive, especially when moving large game files, photos, or project folders. Noise is minimal during normal use. For anyone who needs space for game libraries, media collections, or backups, 8TB goes a long way. It works well as a main storage drive or as a secondary drive alongside an SSD. The BarraCuda line has been reliable for long-term use, and the drive runs cool under load. If you want a large, dependable storage upgrade without paying SSD prices for high capacities, this is a practical option and good value.

Still using it after 2 years
Excellent value for the price. From the moment I started using it, I noticed how quiet it is — genuinely almost silent, which makes a big difference during long sessions. Performance-wise, it’s been consistently smooth on my PC with zero issues. No lag, no random problems, just reliable day-to-day use. Everything runs exactly as it should, and it hasn’t let me down once. What stands out most is the durability. I’m writing this after over two years of regular use, and it’s still going strong without any drop in performance. For something in this price range, that level of reliability is impressive. Definitely a solid purchase.

Great for casual archival and data dumps
Bought 2 of these to replace older drives, they were easy to install and slimmer than the much smaller capacity drives they replaced. Initial performance seems ok, write speed to a clean drive isn't the fastest but acceptable. These drives are SMR, good for write once read many situations (videos, pictures, old games) but don't use them for data that requires frequent writing/rewriting. Don't put them in RAID or a NAS. Quiet and cool when running but quite loud and slow to wake up, they added a few seconds to my boot times and can briefly hang Windows Explorer when waking up. You get 7.27TB of usuable space after formatting. You only get a 2 year warranty so keep that in mind.

An excellent hard drive. Just make sure it arrives in the correct transit box with a warranty card.
I have used Seagate Barracudas for 12 years and found them to be a fantastic all-rounder, having great reliability and lifespan. I use them both in the house network drives and the Home Theatre library. I have even committed the cardinal sin of changing the orientation of a set of three year old barracudas from horizontal to vertical, when the library enclosure backplane failed, and they just continued on in the new enclosure with zero errors. Most of my Barracudas run 24/7, and on average they last for 8 years. But even as they get to end-of-life, they have never just failed, they begin throwing up the odd error, to let you know they are almost done. In my experience, you have about three months from the start of the drives giving errors, to more serious problems. But if the drive is around 8 years old, it has pretty much done it's duty. The only thing I would warn you about, is to make sure that the barracuda (or any Seagate hard drive) arrives in the proper Seagate transit box shown in the pictures. This is the official Seagate packaging, and will include the Seagate warranty booklet. I mention this because I was tempted by a supplier that was slightly cheaper than the official Amazon-supplied drive. What I received was a barracuda inside a heat sealed anti-static bag, but it was loosely packaged in a generic cardboard box without a warranty card. These drives are sometimes 'harvested' from other devices, such as Seagate Expansion or Backup units. I returned the drive and bought the slightly more expensive official Amazon-supplied drive, as these always arrive in mint condition. I will not make that mistake again. The official Seagate boxes suspend the hard drive on all sides inside the box, helping to ensure it arrives in perfect working order.

Good product, good Black Friday price, well packaged
Good price for a known brand and easy to install however I did need to google what to do next before powering up. The lack of a quick start guide is an omission that should be addressed. If the scoring was out of ten I would be giving nine but with 5 star system I gave it five stars as it would unfair to penalise them with 4 stars for a small omission.

Great for every day tasks and as a backup drive
I've had this particular HDD in my PC about 2 years now. It still going strong. I have not any issues with since I purchased this hard drive. I would like to point out that this is not my primary hard drive - I use primarily as a secondary drive for storage, holding various content, some light photo/video editing and for writing documents. For my purposes this has turned out to be a pretty reliable hard drive. Given that it's a mechanical hard drive it's not silent but it's not noisy either. It's pretty easy to live with and not a distraction. Value for money? For me it has been so far. This is a drive I would highly recommend.

Decent enough for the price.
Arrived very quickly only a few hours from order to delivery. I wanted the 2tb but would have taken longer to arrive and I needed the drive asap to transfer the data from a drive in critical failure. The drive itself is performing perfectly read and write speeds are what you’d expect from a more premium drive. Yes it’s on the pricey side but IMO it’s worth spending a little more on this drive if you intend to keep it.
