These boxes of Fig Newtons arrived overnight at my address near Atlanta. Well packaged, soft, moist and tasty. Each 10.5 oz package is about $1.50 USD less than the grocery store price.

I have ordered this product for many years and favorably enjoyed my orders, but this time the box arrived damaged on the outside. The contents inside were 12 packets of ten-ounces each and seemingly intact, but there was a dark, oily appearing smudge in the cardboard on the bottom of the box on the inside, but not on the outside. I wondered that could have leaked to create this smudge? The newtons in the packets opened so far have been dry and almost flavorless. The cookies seemed old or otherwise stale. Product states it is a product of Mexico. Next day I discovered that the "sealed" packages in the factory box are not sealed, but in manufacture the seals are loose or open. Bad adhesive, failed equipment, or something has caused the wrappings of the individual packages to leak, drying out the cookies and spoiling the flavor. I am fearful of eating these unsealed packages. The expense of returning merchandise makes it futile to try to return the unsealed packages of cookies. Clearly something went wrong in the manufacture of this batch of Newtons. Order at your own risk.

I have tried other fig bars but I keep coming back to Fig Newtons. They seemed to be getting costlier while the packaging is getting smaller. Probably on par is the Trader Joe version at a cheaper price but the convenience of ordering on line brings me back to Fig Newtons.
