I was in Ireland last fall and fell in love with Irish soda bread. It is a dark, rich and very coarse non-yeast bread. While some recipes use regular molasses or other sweetener, some of the best recipes recommend treacle as the sweetener. This is the real thing. Try Irish soda bread if you want a simple but delicious bread that is quick to make and extremely tasty. King Arthur Flour Company carries a whole meal flour that produces the right texture and taste. I find the treacle is also a good sweetener to use with whole wheat breads, cookies, muffins, etc. Try it as you will like it!

This has been my favorite tea for some time; strong, flavorful and consistent quality over the years.

Excellent tasting product for making traditional recipes. This syrup also works as a good alternative to dark corn syrup. I do wish it was packaged better for shipping though, I had to transfer it to another container as both packages I ordered were badly dented and leaking. The container itself is very high quality if not damaged in shipping and appears to be made out of real tin rather than steel.

I have several recipes for my English husband that call for this and it's been nice to find it on Amazon. Basically it's a very slightly stronger flavored molasses, but they are essentially interchangeable both in flavor and texture. If you can't get treacle or don't want to spend the extra money, I recommend just using regular molasses. :)
