The dimensions posted pertain to the INTERNAL space of the shelter. The full width/depth (including the base plates) is closer to 50 inches. This was great for our needs as it meant we could perfectly fit the VeeHoo XL dog bed (CWC2204, https://a.co/d/0drx5PTj) and it provides plenty of space for our 75lb Husky/Malamute-mix to enter, get on his raised bed, do the obligatory spins, and then relax in the shade. I wanted a shelter that could provide shade and accomodate a cooling-bed in the hot months, while also providing wind/snow protection once Winter returns. So far, I'm pleased with how easily this was to assemble, and how sturdy the frame seems (Two 19/32 plywood pieces cut to 30"x48" - connected with 3x strap hinges at the top, and 4x 1" pipe straps at the bottom edges - form the roof of the tiki hut. Probably could have gone with 11/32 but the 48" barely spans the distance front-to-back and I was worried the roof would bow/crack after adding the faux-thatch roofing). Biggest takeaway is that the footprint of this shelter is bigger than it seems when you're only measuring ~48"x48" on the floor. But it's the only shelter I could find with the removable front/back panels, and it fits the dog bed, so no complaints. I'll try to update if we encounter any issues in the coming year.

I normally don’t write reviews; however, this product is worth writing about! It is well constructed and has a solid frame. I live in a condominium and I needed something for my dogs to go potty during bad weather. It fits on my patio and it does the job. I was concerned about it moving around, but once I unpacked the box - I realized my concerns were unfounded. I’m extremely happy. I can put it up in 20 minutes or less. Great buy! Looks great too!

Its a nice basic shelter. I put it on concrete in my yard and put it against two walls in a corner, so the wind wont blow it away, and it didnt, but it blew away last week standing in the open. Gotta see how it does in heavy rain and storm. Its a great shelter at night for my snow dog, it blocks the wind and keeps him kinda cozy on his bed. My main concern is securing it so it stays put. I wouldn’t put it on grass or grounds w soil bc it can get muddy! I wanted a dog shelter /house for him n its good for that, not sure about protection in heavy storms n rainfalls . The material also makes it warm inside during the day in sunlight hrs…

Easy to assemble. Did it by myself. My very large dog was able to fit into it. We had to cut down a lot of Ash trees so this very nice for him to get shade. Lightweight and easy to move. Haven't had wind yet, but I also don't plan to leave it out.

Lightweight, water resistant, large size, and (so far) durable. Not quite as easy to assemble as some others, but not difficult, either. Take your time, be sure to have plenty of clear space around you when you assemble; it's amazing how much space this shelter takes during assembly. Once completed, it's easy to maneuver to your desired location. It's been in place for over 8 months, exposed to sunlight, snow, rain, cold, heat and remains in good shape.

Bought this to have a little shelter from the sun for the dog. We were putting the patio umbrella up during the day and taking it down but that was getting annoying to have to do it all the time. The shelter was easy to assemble and looks nice as well. I kept the back part open a d the front a little down instead of fully closed so it'll provide shade inside during high noon. Bought a pet cot for her to lay on while inside, pretty fancy set up!

On my apartment balcony for winter

This is a pet shelter for summer. Fairly easy to assemble, not as sturdy as another I got for a friend but certainly does the job. Not meant to sit on top of course. I modified it to put on my patio for winter for my 2 cats with 2 heating cushions inside. I placed and protected a tarp on top to protect from rain and snow. If you do so, you absolutely need to regularly remove the snow as this shelter is NOT meant to support accumulation of snow. It does a great job to keep the cats dry and fairly warm in cold. They do use it.

We will use this on our deck when our Shih Tzu needs a washroom break during the cold winters. I wish the canvas sides went right to the ground level & the front & back canvas was larger to wrap around the back frame (currently small openings for the snow to blow in). They need to design this to seal completely around the sides and bottom. It is easy to put together & fairly solid after the canvas is installed. Lets see how it holds up during the upcoming winter.

When you put it together, which is not too difficult, the tension on the cover tightens up the frame perfectly making it rigid and sturdy. The ground spikes are a joke and won’t hold it down if you sneezed on it, I recommend using your own hold down solution or you can find many different weigh down system designed to fit on the feet or strap to the legs. I bought fillable bags that I put pebbles in. Not moving anywhere unless I remove the weights. But this shelter is solid and impressive
