God, Help Me: How to Grow in Prayer Absolutely one of the best books I've read in quite some time on growing in personal prayer! Jim's interweaving of family stories with solid Catholic teaching makes the book very easy to read and hard to put down. I highly recommend "God, Help Me: How to Grow in Prayer" for anyone wanting to take their prayer life to a deeper, more enriching level.

The author makes a convincing case for why prayer is important. Not the usual fly-by prayer or devotionals but cultivating a practice to spend concerted time of quiet to listen to God. He also provides useful analogies which could give seekers who find alone time with God difficult a different perspective.The author is blessed by his own experience of spiritual direction and his knowledge of prayer and discernment the Ignatian tradition. The latter, discussed in the book, is clear and easy to follow. There are also testimonies from pray-ers who have benefitted from having a relationship with God through prayer.

Jim Beckman does an amazing job breaking down what prayer really is and inspires the readers to let their prayer life grow deeper with many practical tips.

What I loved most about this book was that it was not the author's opinion on how to pray, but an insightful look at what the Church and the Saints (especially St. Ignatius) had to say about prayer, contemplation, and spiritual discernment.

This book is phenomenal! The author makes straightforward and thoughtful arguments for the essential nature of prayer in our relationship with God and the challenges we face living in modern times. This book definitely gives you the push needed to renew your commitment to prayer and some extremely practical ways of doing so.

For any Christian wanting to learn how to have a deep relationship with Jesus. Rooted in the spiritual exercises created by St. Ignatious of Loyola. Will help Catholics and any Christian who is beginning to pray or has lived a life of pray.
