Pathophysiology: The Biologic Basis for Disease in Adults and Children

My pathophysiology professor required a "textbook" on pathophysiology and a separate textbook on physiology, which I purchased, but it was difficult to follow with course syllabus and the pathophysiology book was a little bit too elementary. As such I decided to purchase this book and I am very pleased with the level of detail and most importantly I do not need a separately book on physiology. Separately I am using this book as a reference tool. Compared to the 2 other books I purchased, this book contains solid high value information. Another thing I find important, which was missing from the other pathophysiology "textbook" but included in this textbook, are the numerous citations and actual photographs alongside the artistic renditions - this is key.

This book has been great for my classes for my graduate degree. It's very in depth and has a lot of good information in it, including new research.

I bought this book because I needed an up to date pathophysiology textbook and because it was highly recommended. So for content it gets 4 stars. But. there is so much information in it that it's rediculously heavy- it weighs a ton. Seriously. I think it should have broken it into volumes 1 & 2 because it's so cumbersome to move the shelf to the desk or from work to home.

This is a well-written and edited textbook. I am using this in NP courses and finding it valuable. I am a student and a book nerd so I keep all books that I feel are valuable, this one is a keeper that I will refer back to in the future. Downside is it is heavy, so I purchased a book stand that is padded which works great for lap reading.

I have used this text since 2006, and with each successive edition, this text only gets better! I also had the very fortunate opportunity to learn advanced pathophysiology from Tina Brashers, MD during my time at UVa. Dr. Brashers is a content expert and captivating lecturer, which both made advanced patho digestible and interesting. As such, this text's authors continue to engage readers with a clear and concise writing style surrounding the vast area of pathophysiology. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

The book is a great book to learn all about the body and systems. It is definitely a secondary read!! Read front to back, page by page.

You really should buy this if textbook mandatory. Review questions at end of each chapter good practice. I Found I saw similar questions on exam.
