Better than Ring Mailbox Sensor, Working Great at 100'
According to Google Maps, the sensor and base station are 100' from each other, though it's probably a little less (I did some manual measuring but did not want to run my reel tape across the street). Please see the associated picture for my setup. The base station is in my garage on large, cluttered steel shelving, and we have a metal garage door and stucco exterior. The mailbox is also metal, and although the company recommends installing the sensor on the outside of a metal mailbox, that's unreasonable if you think someone might be stealing your mail since they could just slide the sensor right off. So I installed it inside the mailbox.Part of the reason I got the sensor was neighbors complaining about their mail being stolen, but using "USPS Informed Delivery" I can see what I am expecting each day, and an alert from this sensor lets me grab the mail as soon as it arrives if I'm home. It's only been installed a few days but so far it has worked 100% of the time (as confirmed by my own testing and Ring cameras which snapshot every 30 seconds). My mailbox was here when we moved in, and it's a bit unusual. It has a swinging top portion and a locked lower portion. When the mail is delivered, the top portion opens enough that mail can come in, but not your hand, since there is a metal guard that also flips up. I installed the sensor on the lower, inside portion of the metal flap, so it does not block mail delivery (again, see photos), but that means there is always one or two layers of metal between the sensor and the outside which I was afraid would block the signal. In fact, I previously purchased a Ring mailbox sensor that never successfully alerted me to any mail. It triggered in a few tests, but was never reliable inside the box despite the huge antenna. One reason I bought the X-Sense was the separate base station, which could be closer to the mailbox than the Ring Bridge. Ring only lets you have one Bridge, and moving it to the front corner of the garage sacrificed the connection to the lights at the back of our property and still didn't detect the mail. Now the Ring Bridge is in the back of the house, and the X-Sense Base Station is in the Garage. The Ring Sensor might have theoretically been able to trigger cameras that would record who was accessing the mailbox, but since it never worked at all, it was a moot point. On sale, these units cost about the same (even with the X-Sense base station included). The X-Sense is also smaller and easier to install as well as being more effective and reliable.Contrary to another recent review, the app definitely works on Android. I am using a Pixel 6a (2.5yrs old at the time of my review) and it has no issues. Perhaps the other reviewer had a phone that was limited to an out of date Android OS. I am on Android 15.All in all, 5 stars! It even came with two adhesive pads for the backer. My only gripe is that has a two minute delay after triggering before it will trigger again, and I'd like to be able to adjust that timer, but I understand the reasoning.

Nice Mailbox Alert System
This is a great idea. It lets me know when the postman has come. The postman doesn't have a very consistent time of day that he comes to our house so we've been making several trips out to the street to check the mailbox only to find he hasn't come yet. Anytime someone opens the mailbox door an alarm goes off to the base station in the house and an alert goes off on your phone at the same time. The base can be silenced via the phone app or if you are near the base station you can go to it and silence it from there. It was simple to install and simple to set the app up. It has really been nice just waiting until you hear the Alert go off before you go check your mail.

Works so well at a good price
I’ve had this for several months now and it has changed the game for my apartment. We had a thief that was stealing packages within a few minutes of their arrival; clearly he was one of our neighbors, which is hella messed up. Even though were able to spot him and his timing because we have a camera, it only records the doorstep to our apartment, and he knew how to position himself and his hoodie to avoid his face in frame. It had gotten so bad we got a large, metal, one way drop top delivery box with a code on it, and installed the sensor on the inside. Now we are notified AS SOON as the box is opened, and it brings so much relief to us. It often notifies us and reacts faster than our Google Nest camera starts recording. The man hasn’t returned and we have a great safeguard in place. (Mind you, that only works if the delivery person places the packages in the box lol, so we needed a sign for that too lol.)The noise is customizable too with a few options in the app, and the notification box flashes red to let you know if you missed a package. I put it in a high visibility area for us. I’ve had no hiccups. It’s great.Highly recommend.

False alarms, finally fell off the mailbox door
Final edit: it's working perfectly for me now, but I can't upgrade to five stars as I said I would, because there were two issues I had to resolve by myself. The first one I solved was that movement of the box, which in my case was unavoidable, caused a false alarm. The solution was to use the infrared sensor instead of the tilt sensor, as described below. The second was that the sensor kept falling off the mailbox door, because the alarm kit was supplied with double-sided tape of less than industrial strength. The solution was to purchase and apply Double Sided Mounting Tape 2 Pack Heavy Duty, (3/4" Width, Total 20 FT) Clear Adhesive Waterproof Removable for Carpet Fix, Home Office Wall Decor, DIY Crafts, Car Glass Decor. My previous edit was:I'm adding a star (from 3 to 4). The user manual says there's no remedy for false alarms due to vibration (see original review below), but I found a workaround. I repeated the setup telling the app that I was installing the alarm on a cluster mailbox with a vertical hinge. That enabled the infrared sensor and disabled the tilt sensor. A test showed no false alarms from vibration, and a true alarm when I opened the mailbox door.I stuck the sensor to the mailbox door with the spare piece of double-sided tape, after cleaning both surfaces with acetone. If it holds for a week I will add another star, to 5.ORIGINAL REVIEW: My experience with this mailbox alarm has been horrible, but for some it would be perfect. My mailbox is at the curb on a flexible mount. A gust of wind, or even a big truck passing by, sets off the alarm. I'm guessing that it works by gravity: when the mailbox door is opened, gravity is perpendicular to the door, and a weight inside moves down and makes a contact. But when the door is closed, and the mailbox moves back and forth, the motion is also perpendicular to the door and sets off the alarm. Some days, depending on the weather, I have a lot of false alarms. Other days it works great.I wondered how I could return the device with the sensor's mounting plate firmly bonded to the door, but this afternoon the adhesive tape gave way, and the sensor tilted by 90 degrees so it didn't trigger the alarm when the mail was delivered. Maybe it was too cold when I installed it, or maybe I didn't clean the door well enough. Anyway I removed the mounting plate and sensor and packed everything for return.I haven't actually returned it yet because there's a phone number and email address for service. I sent an email and I'm hoping there's somebody at the other end who can resolve the issues. Anyway, buyer beware.
