I completed two of these on Christmas vacation in an AirBnB. If you enjoy puzzles, work a lot, or just enjoy solace, this puzzle is for you. I loved having my brain and hands engaged. It helped me to turn work off and relax. I had no tools, but did use a butter knife to help break in a few things that weren't punched all the way through. For the small circles, I used the tip of a pen. Things learned the hard way: The directions were crap like everyone else said lol Instead of them labeling pieces, they labeled where pieces joined together. Once you've assembled a couple of pieces, look at the directions and it will help you figure out the way that the directions are written. I laid all of the pieces out on a coffee table and grouped similar pieces together to begin. When assembling, look at the pictures I've posted to see where things go. Don't bother with the directions at the beginning. I literally taped the picture of the house up on a gingerbread house box and used it as the framework, then opened the Amazon listing to figure out where pieces went that I wasn't sure about. Do NOT lock many of the pieces in place and definitely don't glue anything until you've assembled it all. You'll have to take things apart and reassemble them to add pieces as you go. I assembled things like the lamp post, tops of the towers, stairs, guardrails, etc, and set them off to the side so I knew which pieces I still needed to figure out where they went. Once I knew where they went, there was one piece that I didn't see on any pictures for the Hawaiian Villa. I circled it in a picture. It's mostly hidden, which is surprising because it's a very detailed piece. The Gothic house was not as well fitting as the Hawaiian Villa. I put the Villa together first, thankfully. The Gothic house was more difficult as the pictures show. I definitely preferred the construction of the Villa, but the Gothic one terrible. I ended up sanding down the intersection where the roof piece hit the turret part of the gothic house to close up that gap. The house looks much better now. Keep the "extras" as you punch them out. Luckily, I did this because I'm turning them into gingerbread houses. There was a piece that I thought was an extra initially, but it actually turned out to be a necessary. Use the butter knife to push the cut the rest of the way through for the portions that don't quite get punched out all the way. I didn't have sandpaper, but it would have been nice to have a little bit available for the portions that were connected to the main board. I intend on cutting the locks off and using wood glue with a dab of hot glue to hold everything together and to create a smoother exterior. I want to turn the houses into gingerbread houses to decorate with at Christmas. I'm going to be painting them with snow and stuff. I hope you found this review helpful. It's a great product if you understand what you're getting into.

This house is not a model nor quality doll house. It is a 3D puzzle. The directions for assembly are therefore rather vague. I was looking for some houses to buy (kits that one assembles oneself and decorates) in order to create a Christmas village. This one looked cute and was cheap enough that if I ended up disliking it after assembly I wouldn't feel as if I wasted a lot of money. I did read the reviews, including the negatives ones and for the most part, I agree: This house has problems! 1. The individual pieces have been left in the boards from which they have been cut. Most often, the cuts do not go all the way through to the back of the board. One has to be very careful popping the pieces out for the wood fractures and splinters quite easily. 2. The individual pieces fit poorly at the joints. Yes, some do fit OK, but for the most part the joints are either too tight or have large gaps in them. 3. Sanding and cutting the individual pieces (either to get them out of the boards or to try and achieve a better fitting joint) does not work all that well at times. The surface layers of the pieces tends to flake off leaving the underlayment showing. The surface of some of the boards was rough and bumpy. Be aware that this puzzle takes a good deal of patience and time! I put it together first as a puzzle just to see where the pieces went and how they fit together (oh dear!). I then took it completely apart and began 'renovations': 1. I put in wooden doll house flooring on the ground level. 2. Painted (this wood absorbs paint!!) 3. Wall papered 4. Removed features I didn't like (the overhanding outside trim on the second floor) and substituted some preferred trim. 5. Used trim to cover up the gaps in the joints that were too difficult to fix. 6. Shingled the roof. 7. Added roofing 'ridge vents'. 8. Removed a lot of the ornate doo-dads on the roof that I didn't like. I enjoy crafting and a challenge and believe me when I say this was a challenge! It was fun watching it come together in its newly decorated state, and I believe it is good enough to decorate with a set of micro-lights and use in next year's Christmas village. It's just poor quality and poorly cut. I repeat - lots of patience is needed, and mini tools do help too.

This is as its pictured. This is good quality and it does look amazing once put together. We got this filor a haunted house project but now I want to turn it into a gingerbread house! Its a blank canvas and you can do so much! I am thinking of buying other sets to make a Christmas village! However fair warning, wear gloves because you may get splinters. Things to know: 1. Instructions are horrible. 2. Watch the video as it helps a lot but the video is not in order so watch it a few times before you try it. 3. Be patient!

There are no step by step instructions included, so I highly suggest watching a few YouTube videos of assembly. I was able to build this kit in about an hour and a half, using only an Exacto knife and an emery board. The pieces come precut in wood sheets, but need some help punching out at times. I also found some of the tabs needed to be shaved down a bit to fit correctly. The circles in the upper trim were not well cut and did not want to punch out, resulting in some damage to the trimwork that was very disappointing. I plan on completely customizing this house and painting it, so left it unglued so I can disassemble parts for painting. I also did not add the chimney, the front spire, or some of the gingerbread trim because they didn't fit with my vision. I also found the kit assembled to be smaller than 1:12 scale; picture with Quarter included for sizing. I believe it may be 1:28 scale. All in all, this is a good kit and I love how this is coming together! It was not as scary to assemble as some have stated in their reviews, but I would again highly recommend watching some of the videos on YouTube on how others assembled it. I would say this is advanced beginner level and a good starting point for building your own wooden dollhouse. It has good bones for making your own dollhouse and is easily customizable.

The idea of this product is 100x better than the actual product. Horrendous, albeit almost non-existent, assembly instructions. I didn't even care that it was cheaply made because that was the whole point of my purchase; to build something relatively cheap and make it over with other materials to produce the aesthetic I wanted. The wood quality could be better for what you paid for but it doesn't 'fit' together snugly... you need a LOT, of hot glue. Whatever amount you're thinking, add 20 more sticks. Granted.. there is a disclosure: 'There is no details instruction , you can watch some assemble video on Youtube first.It need 2-5 hours to build. If there are some wood pieces is missing, we can refund you $2-$5 since we can not resend replacement.' I'd like to translate it into more realistic instructions... Suppose you have an infinite amount of patience, and/or have eaten a significant amount of mushroom in the last few hours. In that case, you may enjoy this very tedious project that demands 2-5 hours of impeccable patience and craft organization. If you are neither of the former, take your $20, buy a jumbo box of wooden toothpicks, throw them around your craft table, and scream your favorite obscenities amid your buyer's remorse, and you will have similar results. For those of you who completed this coffin wood build, I commend you. For those of you like me, everything is 100% recyclable.

One of the best puzzles I've put together in a long time. Despite the lack of instructions, the pieces are well designed to easily connect to the correct piece.

Purchased this and was super excited to make it into “The Pink Palace.” (Coraline house) I can say it was perfect. The instructions were a little confusing at the beginning and it seemed flimsy but once you start connecting everything it came together beautifully!

This is a nightmare. I’ve included photos of my final product (thanks hyperfixation for helping me through this one), the image that came with it, the terrifying labeling map, and the assembly “instructions.” I say “instructions” because no actual instructions have ever said “Get general idea of which parts go where.” They might as well say “look at the picture and good luck.” As you can see by my horrible pink markings, I had to go through each sheet of wood individually and mark all the numbers because, frankly, it’s hellish to try to do so without marks on the wood. As for the wood, it’s what you would expect. Not great quality, one-ply wood with laser-cut areas to push out that may or may not actually come out without breaking the whole thing. Given the fact that this was guaranteed to be destroyed by tons of tiny rodent teeth, and all their, ah, releases, I didn’t care much if the quality was bad or not. But if you’re hoping for something that will look lovely on your Christmas display, maybe search elsewhere. This comes with nothing but what I pictured (and the wooden sheets that they come cut into). No glue, no actually helpful instructions, no nothing. And a LOT of the pieces fit together kinda wonky. Not just loose, which is fine, but strange joints where three pieces come together in a way unbendable-wood finds difficult to manage. If you’re looking for something cheap to do with the kids, this is fine? I guess? If you’re autistic, like I am, and not looking for perfection, then this would work. But the price doesn’t match what you’re getting, and I’d be hard pressed to pick an age group this would be appropriate for. The design is cute for sure, and the fact hat it has all 3 useable floors is great, but oh my gosh. What a nightmare. I’m thankful for my brain chemistry which let me start and finish this task instead of immediately sending it back once I realized that I was basically on my own here.

There are no lights or DIY kits, only the wooden house and furniture. This matches the pictures but not the title or description.

No way to work out what piece fits wear!!!!! NO INSTRUCTIONS TO GUIDE TO CORRECT PIECES. Stamped put any old way without rhyme or reason. After few days I have up after only finding pieces to one bed that fits together. Meanwhile a little girl became sad. NEVER AGAIN.
