Works, and easy to install with the right tools
Update - I'm back and boy, am I surprised...I didn't expect to need as many of these as I did, but I learned something this last year - pigeons will only try a couple times and then when they realize huge spikes threaten to maim them if they persist, they move to another spot. Spots I didn't think would be a problem. Even other small birds. I had a space next to the row I put up and I came out one day and saw a small bird in that space, next to the Spikes of Death. And he looked at me as if to say, "Hey I may be little but I'm not dumb" and then took a dump. So I've gone back through and initiated a new CPOD, comprehensive plan of deterrence. The plan is - put these puppies everywhere. EVERYwhere and anywhere a bird of any size can land. I played nice and got pooped. Then I played smart and still got pooped. Now, I'm playing to win. There's no everybody-wins end game here, no ending where birds land on my eaves and patio posts and flaunt their powers of flight at me. They'll learn - don't even THINK about it. Word will spread, we'll be off the routes and flight paths. Fortunately, there was an ample amount of strips in the initial order to go around and fill all the spots I had potential risk. So, it's Over. It's done. -------- I used GM double stick tape in places where I couldnโt get into with a screwdriver or drill (Up in corners of eaves) and shot a couple brad nails where I could for extra security. They provide small screws and zip ties for installation uses and they work fine where they fit. Most of mine donโt show at all or very little so as long as theyโre in sturdy theyโll hold up fine. The materials are hard plastic, I assume theyโll last many years. If not, Iโll update this review.

Birds: Here Today - Gone Tomorrow!
Had my patio extended but that came with unintended consequences. The birds like hanging out under the awning to get out of the the West Texas sun. I ordered these, two days later they arrived and half an hour after that they were installed. I installed them over wood with a bit a construction adhesive and two screws per section. Overkill? You haven't seen how big this birds are! Well those little suckers no hang out somewhere else thank goodness. I also added this to the arms that hold up a canopy on the other side of my yard. These birds are relentless! I just used the construction adhesive as the canopy structure is metal. Once again the birds moved on and finally out of my yard!

Works!
Easy to install. Works well and is the first thing Iโve seen to stop the birds from pooping on my balcony. Would be nice if it Included tape

They don't work
It did not keep any birds away. In fact, they were happily weaving their grass and twigs in and out and between the spikes. I had to put bricks on top of the spikes to keep them off. I failed to cover the spikes in one corner, and a pair of house finches built a nest lickety-split and the female is already sitting on some eggs. Yes, there's a strip of spikes under this nest.

Keeps the birds clear of my car
In my parking garage, there's a pipe for the fire-sprinklers right over my parking spot. The sparrows that live in this garage used to leave a line of mess down the whole length of the car. I put these up two weeks ago using cable-ties to keep them on the pipe and the car has been clear of bird droppings ever since. Success! I used two cable-ties per section but ran out of the included ties so make sure you have a few extra on hand when installing this way.

Wanted this to keep our pet cat off the deck railings
It was purchased to keep our cat off the deck railings, where she jumped off into open space. This is an "indoor" cat. We have several wildlife that would harm the cat (coyotes, racoons, bobcats, etc.). The cat figured out how to walk on the spikes and "escaped" so the spikes did not work for our needs. However, we have no birds or other wildlife walking or sitting on our railings.

Mission Accomplished!
I've tried EVERYTHING to keep my cockatiels from perching on my t.v and the trim around my windows and doors but nothing worked! Until now! I know I sound like an infomercial but I'm excited because they were destroying everything from eating my drywall to pooping on my electronics. My birds are my babies and wouldn't think of clipping their wings or keeping them caged all day so these strips were heaven sent. I simply cut them along the lines that were already groved into the plastic and used a dot of hot glue to hold in place. I plan on painting in a few months so I already checked to see if the hot glue would be easy to remove from the trim and it is. Either they'll be trained by then or I'll put them back up. Either way, I've reclaimed my room back and couldn't be happier.

Latest poop on the USPS. Maybe this will help.
My mailboxes are a favorite perch for the neighborhood birds whose excrement looks bad and ruins the paint. They needed some spring cleaning so I freshened them up with new paint and new decals. They got pooped on before the paint got dry. So, this is my experiment to see if I can discourage the birds. I like these spikes. They are just the right height and sharpness to deter the birds but not so sharp as to be very dangerous to human hands. They bend to the contour of the mailbox very well. I had to saw a piece from another section and add about 2.5 inches to span the length of the boxes. I used E6000 glue to attach them. We shall see if they work. Even if they don't, they make the boxes look pretty mean and unique!
