Just the Job
Nice product Plug and play the 3.5" hard drive from my old PC - just remains for me to transfer files to my new PC at my leisure - and I've gained 150 Gb of backup storage. Old PC safely retired without data.👍

Something that works!
This is a great little device. I used it on Windows10 and a 3.5hdd. Worked as soon as I plugged it in showing all the files and directories on the drive. I would recommend this even for a novice.

Sturdy and Fast Data Transfer
Using to backup data onto multiple older but still active disk drives. Works well. Would recommend.

Plug and play, works great as a hard drive dock for a 3.5 SATA drive that came out of an old desktop... keep it hooked up to a laptop now. Would buy again.

OK, in case it's not obvious, from the design of this model, I regard it as for temporary use. The rear side electronics of the hard disk are left exposed, and this could be an issue for dust or moisture. You should look for a totally enclosed case if you want to leave your USB disk attached all the time. I bought this because I rarely use a USB enclosure. And I have a bunch of various 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives that I need to access now and then. So, I have the various disks/ssds stored, and as I need them, I can just pop them into the drive. No screws, no messing around. It's a great device to use for backups using old or spare disks you have sitting around. eg, for grandfather-father-son. Pop the drive in, backup, take back out and store safely. I like the small size of the enclosure, and the manual was clear and simple. The specs on this are good. The manual specification claims to use SATA 3.0 which is up to 6Gbps. I have confirmed via Linux that the enclosure connects at 5Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1, previously known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, and USB 3.0). Any hard disk drive (spinning type) will not hit anywhere near these speeds. Fast SATA SSDs could theoretically have some performance loss where the 5Gbps USB becomes the bottleneck. But that depends on the performance of the SSD, and what you are doing with it. For my temporary use, this isn't an issue. I also recommend placing it where you won't bump it accidentally. I place it on a separate shelf behind my PC desk, so even if I bump my desk, the drive isn't affected. eg a 2.5" drive may not be particularly tightly held in the enclosure.

I’ve been using the ORICO Hard Drive Docking Station for a while now, and it’s been excellent. Setup was quick—just plug it in and go. It reads both 2.5” and 3.5” drives with no issues, and the USB-C connection gives solid, fast transfer speeds. The build quality feels sturdy, and it’s perfect for backing up files, cloning drives, or recovering data from old hard drives. No overheating, no random disconnects—just smooth performance every time. If you want an easy, dependable way to access SATA drives, this is a great choice. Definitely worth it!
