Perfect for hard to reach hair, yet still gentle
Amazing razor! Iโve been struggling for years with in grown hair after shaving and never found a razor that was gentle on my skin while still catching flat and swirling hair. I have tried many options including the Norelco or Babyliss foil, both didnโt work well for me. This Series 7 works perfectly, it catches everything while not irritating my skin too much. Very much recommend for anyone who needs a precise razor that can clean cut without destroying your skin.

Amazing Close Shave with my New Braun Series 7
Well, who would have known - finally an electric shaver that works as advertised, providing a clean, close, satisfying shave that's smooth as that baby's behind every time. Easy and fast too! Just be sure to use it up and down for best results. The instruction manual is also poorly done - so use a few YouTube videos to get all the facts. The little charging stand is not something I will be using, although I had wanted to - placing the shaver on it is tricky and the shaver, yes - placed correctly, is wobbly and precarious. It will fall out of the charger often. So, just plug it in to the bottom and be done with the poor quality charging stand. Overall, a great shaver and worth the bucks. Braun is durable and is easy to clean. Now, go get one right here on Amazon!

Great razor but...
Iโd give this product 5 stars if it wasnโt for the horrible, almost incomprehensible user manual (actually a single sheet of diagrams) which forces the user to figure out the use and operation of the shaver through sheer trial and error. Iโve had an older model self-cleaning Braun shaver for years so I had some experience and figuring out the nuances of this one didnโt take long but good luck with the printed directions. I tried to find the "user manual" online at Braun's website but it was merely more of the same. Iโm surprised that a terrificGerman company like Braun would be so inept at providing information to its customers particularly given the price of their products. Otherwise, itโs a great shaver with multi-use attachments which are easily switched out for trimming, from very close, clean shave, a stubble attachment for that look, a trimmer attachment with 7 length varieties and of course the attractive cleaner/charger base. The battery length is superb, even if you shave every day and the self-cleaning option works perfectly. The shaver is very ergonomically comfortable and even looks good sitting on the countertop inserted in the base. It also comes with a very nice travel case with room for needed attachments. In short, great razor/trimmer, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Only negativeโlack of a decent user manual.

Great shaver. Wish it had the built in trimmer like the prior model.
Very nice shaver. Provides a clean close shave. Iโve been using Braun shavers for over 20 years. The prior model had a built in hair trimmer which was very convenient. Hope they will introduce that type of built in trimmer in the future.

Superior Shaving Results Compared To The Braun Series 5
I have sensitive skin and get razor burns and skin irritations with blades. The rotary razor gives the same results. I've been using the Braun Series 5 shaver for a couple of years. It was OK but honestly, it was hard to get a close shave. I like the Braun Foil Shaver and settled on the Series 7 7185cc. Other than being a newer model, I was almost expecting the same results. Boy, was I wrong. The flex head adjusts to your face and truly does produce a close shave while protecting the skin. The 3 shave modes offers flexability to customize your shaving experience. After using it a while, I settled on the Turbo mode. It gives a fast shave without any irritation. The SmartCare Center makes cleaning the razor a breeze. After rinsing the head and shaking it dry, pop it in the cleaner, turn it on and forget about it. When it's done cleaning, it charges the razor. I generally use the cleaner about once a week. In between, I just rinse it off, shake it dry and put it in the cleaning center to dry. The battery is exceptional. Even after a week of daily use, it barely reads below a full charge. I like the fact that it's waterproof and can be used in the shower if needed. I haven't used the Beard Stubbler, and Beard Trimmer attachments yet. I'd expect them to function as intended. The included travel pouch offer additional flexability. I've taken the razor with me many times. I took the charging cord several times but never needed to charge it. Sure, the manual could be a little better but it's all pretty basic and there is not alot you need to know to use it. Overall, I'm highly impressed with this razor. It is a great upgrade from the Series 5. I'm sure it will last. Braun makes great products.

Not right for me, might be right for you.
So, I had high expectations for this device. I remember watching Braun commercials as a kid in the '80s and they presented themselves as something like the BMW of shaving devices , and appeared to have earned the right to make that claim. German engineering has historically meant tight tolerances, form following function, and endurance. So at 47 I decided I was going to plunk down nearly $200 on a device that appeared tailor made to my needs and was expecting a device with some heft and the aforementioned characteristics. The module that you hold in your hand with the on/off controls, motor, driver and battery has a nice slightly tacky rubber skin and nestles right in your hand, but once I started swapping out the shaving head, beard trimming head, buzzy chop your beard down to size head, I started to have some doubts. The receiver for these attachments and the top of the handheld module was made entirely of plastic with a couple plastic spindles that extended out of the top of the device and mated with the cutting attachment. The buzzy beard chopper worked Ok, and it was basically a couple of buzzing blades wrapped in some plastic protective shields, so they clearly weren't intended for precision shaving, but they knocked down my beard pretty well and made it shave ready, but when I added the beard trimming attachment that's when the problems started. Apart from the trimming blade itself the rest of the attachment was again made of plastic, and the clipper grabbed my beard four of five times within the first minute or two of it's first use, and gave me a good pinch on one of them, and at that moment I was glad I had held onto my Wahl peanut because the clipper on the Braun was not going to get the job done. When I finally got the beard chopped down close enough to use the foil shaving head I noted it was also mostly made of plastic, apart from the foil itself and the cutting blades, and much to my dismay the foil cutting head also tugged at my beard, also in a relatively painful fashion, so after testing all three cutting heads on the first test drive I reluctantly decided this device just wasn't going to get the job done. Given the articulating head I tried to give it a chance by exploring various angles of attack, but there was no angle that I could find that ended the grabbing and plucking problem, and by the time I had finished taking it for a test drive on just one side of my face it seemed crystal clear there were two factors creating a kind of synergistic failure. #1 was the quality of my beard, unlike the brown hair I am still lucky to have blanketing my entire head, the hair in my beard is almost entirely gray and anyone with gray hair in their beard knows they are almost as durable as the fibres in a brillo pad. The second factor was the sloppy engineering tolerances in the foil shaving attachment. In spite of the fact the foil shaving head has two foils each with its own cutting head, separated by a slight gap, the dual foil setup was incapable of delivering a clean shave even after moving it back and forth several times like a lawnmower moving back and forth along the same cutting path, but regardless of how many times I did this it just couldn't deliver a close shave. By contrast, my little $25-30 Panasonic wet drive battery powered shaver with only a single foil made quick work of cleaning up after the Braun. The foil on the Panasonic is also a complete hemispherical arc, whereas the foils on the Braun were formed in a kind of lazy arc something like if you tried to putt a golf ball at a hole ten feet away and the ball drifted maybe 4-6 inches to the right at the center of it's path of travel and then slowly drift left again and arrive at the hole in a straight line with the position of the ball when it was first struck, the takeaway from this being the foil only seemed to achieve flush contact with the skin at the apex of this arc, as such limiting the effective cutting surface of the foil to a narrow band down the middle representing 5-10% of the total surface area. I might not have the math here precise to six-sigma standards, and probably should have waited to seal the return box for the device until I finished this review, but I am hardwired for binary thinking the MBTI refers to as The Mechanic", and I held my face very close to a large mirror as I moved the razor back and forth as slowly as I could, as perfectly straight as I could, then switched to moving over a path like an ellipse so it would hit the hairs from every angle, then rotated it slowly like a Roomba confused about which direction to head in next, and even after all that, and 20 or 30 hairs that felt like they had been plucked by the coils of an Epilady, the left side of my face still looked like I tried to shave in the dark with a set of dull clippers with a cutting guard that appeared to rise and fall like the horses on a carousel because the hairs on his face ranged from long to short and then sloped backup to long again, or like a lawnmower than ran on shocks that would rise and fall like the pole running vertically through the aforementioned carousel horses. I am probably rambling now, but the first thing that comes to mind every time I reflect on my disappointment at it''s performance is the cutting heads that were each made almost entirely of plastic, and not the kind of polymers Glock uses to make every part of their high performance handguns except the barrel, but the kind of plastics those cheapo companies used to make the squirt guns you played with as a kid that came out of the bag with cracks in the seams that would leak water so fast you might get off 4 or 5 trigger pulls before the gun ran dry. If I haven't made it clear enough every one of the cutting head seems poorly constructed and flimsy, and even at 6'2" and 250# I can stomp on a lego and not damage it in the slightest, but I could probably stomp on all these attachments and the same time and they when I lifted my foot it would likely look like I stomped on some plastic oyster crackers. OaO.

Just a fantastic product.
This is my first electric shaver and Iโm never going back to disposable blades. I was having skin irritation and redness with blades. This Braun has done wonders and has corrected my skin irritation. My co worker said get a Braun if you get one and donโt go cheap. Also recommended foil instead rotating blades. The battery charge last forever. It does get a really close shave if you use it multiple passes. I canโt even imagine if top of the line Braunโs could be much better than the series 7. Works great wet or dry and very easy to clean.

Don't buy...Braun downgraded the Series 7 quality
Purchased this a little over a month ago because I have enjoyed the Series 7 for so many years until I finally wore it out. I decided to continue with what I was familiar with...the tried and true...battle tested Series 7 that used to be the best bang for the buck. Reviews were excellent...4.6+ stars out of 5 with 4 digit number of reviews. I noticed it looked a little different but figured it was due to being the new and improved model. Experience started off ok but the razor seemed a little weak but still decent at first. After multiple cleanings with the cleaning station, and rinsing with hot tap water, and using the brush it comes with....about the 4th week into this purchase, the razon would run sporadically...sometimes just shutting off in the middle of a shave. Also, when I got it back to a running state, I could lay it down on the counter top while it was running and just listen to the different speeds levels it would perform...under no load. It was like I was pressing the button to change speeds but it did it by itself. Sometimes it was bog down until it finally stopped...like the battery died...but it was fully charged. Sometimes I would push the power button and get nothing at all...and I made sure it was not locked for travel as well. Can't believe this was a $170 shaver and a BRAUN on top of that. Then I did research and found an article that described similar issues with it and the writer went on to describe how this new version was a mere shadow of what the Series 7 once was and recommended the consideration of the Series 8 for a little more (if you get the silver one...the black one of the same exact thing from Amazon is $90 more...just for the color...no thanks). Noticed the design of the Series 8 looks almost exactly like the wonderful Series 7 of old. So I ordered it and Amazon said I'd get it the same day to boot. Well, the shipment got delayed, and delayed, and delayed again. So I found it at Target for the same price...$219 and cancelled the Amazon order. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SERIES 8! IT IS FANTASTIC! The bad news for me is that I went to return the POS Series 7 to Amazon but did so on the 35th day of ownership and Amazon says the window to return it closed after 30 days. So now I don't know what I'm going to do with it. I guess I'll try to contact Braun now since it supposedly has a warranty, but most likely they are going to make this suggestion and that suggestion in an effort to troubleshoot the issue but seriously doubt there will be and offer to return for my money back. So Amazon got $170 out of me which gave back any savings I've had with them over the years for sure. That particular Series 7 shaver is designed poorly with a weak motor not strong enough to reliably power it as it struggles to maintain speed, even on a very light shave (I do not have a coarse beard at all)...very surprising for the usual stellar quality of BRAUN products. Love my Series 8 though...well worth the extra money (for the silver one).

Great update to the Braun series. Awesome design for a really close shave.
Upgraded from a 5 year old Series 6 and this is night and day better. Slim design, great battery and attachments. So efficient I can shave in 3 or 4 minutes and it's not far off a wet razer shave closeness. The Dock is well designed compared to my old one that had connection problems. I hope this lasts another 5 years!

A clean shave
I guess shaver preference is a personal choice. But for me, I feel this provide the cleanest and least irritation among the different types of shavers Iโve tried (namely Gillette Shavers, and Philips rotary shavers)
