Western Digital 14TB WD Purple Pro Surveillance Internal Hard Drive HDD - SATA 6 Gb/s, 512 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD142PURP

Have not had running long. Will update if things change, but so far I can see the speed improvements with video playback, event playback and AI functions from previous drive in my NVR. The drive is louder than my previous drive but not an issue for me. I do wish this drive would be available in a 16TB option as my NVR allows up to 16TB but had to go with the 14TB as the largest available option.

I previously ordered a Toshiba N300 16TB NAS 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive - CMR SATA 6 GB/s 7200 RPM 512 MB Cache - HDWG51GXZSTA drive for our surveillance system, but it was extremely noisy/clicky big time. I returned it and got this WD drive. It's extremely quiet for a drive of this size and so glad we switched!

Abolute trash! Supposedly a high end drive.. Straight out of the box sounds like its struggling to survive. Constantly clacking and banging. No drive spin sound just clicking, clacking, and bangs within the drive. No activity as its sitting inside an enclosure.

Grabbed 2 of these for my Reolink 36channel NVR. About 1 month since and both drives still recording and seeking well.

Just started using it but a bit noisy compared to ther drives. Woking with Reolink NVR-36

Was picked up nicely by my UDM Pro SE and using it in unifi protect

Should have purchased elsewhere.

WD purple have low failure rate according to backblaze, however I couldnt find data based on pro version as its considered commercial and not consumer grade. Despite some negative reviews I ordered it due to WD solid repuation. On arrival both the box and internal plastic cover were in tact and untampered. I immediately connected to computer, not errors, clicking or noises. I proceeded to install it into the Reolink NVR. Despite being 14TB, after the format, it's stating a capacity of 13TB, regardless it works perfectly without issues.

The first one I ordered made it from the USA and then mysteriously disappeared from an Australian airport. That was refunded. Silly me ordered another one from the US, this one arrived fine. When I fitted it, it made some buzzing noises and wouldn't initialise in my Hikvision NVR. I scanned it and it clocked up over 100 sector errors and then the NVR rejected it. I tried it in a Win 11 PC and it wouldn't initialise either - I/O device error. So this one is being returned.
