How do you know if deer have visited your mineral lick ?

Best thing is to put a trail camera on the lick so you can not only see what is licking it but what quality of animal it is. Or if is in fact the target animal. Without the trail cam you will just see it deteriorating as things lick it. I also pour a box of kosher corse salt over top the block in a small hole I dig about 4’’ deep then I put some dirt back on top.
