Love it!
Works very well. I love it. I used to use a small plastic bowl but the soap never lathered up well making me use more soap. Now I use way less and the soap never goes cold. Awesome idea! Just be careful, it's ceramic. It does have a rough bottom surface, so put it on a small towel or something if you have quartz or stone countertop. I'm thinking it could scratch up glaze surfacing on the counter. Also they give you a cork plug and a rubber plug. The rubber plug can fall into pot and never come out when heated. Cork seems a tad small too. But I put the cork's narrow end into the rubber plug and that tightened everything up, so no more fear of one or the other falling in and never getting them back out. So again use both at same time.

Fantastic
First time user of this kind of product and I love the shave and feeling I get after using the scuttle and brush. It truly gives you a next level shave. Incredibly close and smooth and Iโm using an everyday razor. I looked through a lot of reviews on different kinds/styles of bowls to hold the shaving puck and create the lather, and some reviews on this product about how the puck didnโt lather correctly or at all. I can tell you that those reviews were the result of user error. The first time I tried to make a lather it didnโt work at all and the reason was I did not soak the brush in water before using. I put the tea pot on and boil water then fill the scuttle and cork it, by the time Iโm out of the shower the inside of the scuttle is really hot. I create the lather and spread it around the inside and let it sit for a few moments and โvoilaโ nice hot shaving cream. If youโre on the fence about this product go ahead and pull the trigger, you wonโt regret itโฆ

Great Product, but the Cork, God Why!
Guys, this was precisely what I was looking for. A slightly oversized, heavy, quality shaving cup. The internal "warm water channel" works exactly as advertised. When filled with hot water, the cup becomes hot to the touch, warming your shaving cream and/or soap. The indentations are perfect for getting a quality lather on good shaving cream and/or soap. Easy to clean, and should you require it, pop it right into the dishwasher and forget about it. Finally, it looks good, feels manly, and I like it in my everyday bathroom kit. But! The damn Cork... Let's talk about the Cork! It is a cheap, right-out-of-the-mill Cork. It is low quality and flakes if you scratch it moderately with your thumbnail. That isn't a big deal, but seems strange when paired against such a nice shaving cup. But here is the problem. The cork is EXACTLY the right size for the warm water channel. This means that if you push it down with light force, it will go parallel to the surface and be difficult to pry out of the hole when finished. Finally, if you're a functional moron like me, any ham-handed attempts to get the cork back out result in shoving the cork INTO the warm water channel. No! My Cork!!! I've been working at it for several minutes, like trying to dig termites out of a termite mound. Guys! My tools aren't working, and I can't get the Cork out. To the manufacturer, please consider oversizing the corks. That would make it simple to push in and remove. Finally, it is impossible to be pushed into the warm water channel by idiots like me. The cork is an odd detail to screw up with such a quality shaving cup. Or, consider another type of stopper for the water channel that I can't conceptualize now?

Real Review
Alright. This mug is great. I took a deep dive into the actual art of shaving. It's nice. Anyhow, I bought this. I have a small metal mix bowl, a nice ceramic mix bowl and now this. Ceramic Bowl retains the heat from hot water on it. As does this. My water is scolding hot. I run it on the bowl and then start to whip up the cream. With this bowl I ran it under water and filled it with hot water. I added my shave cream. It was nice and hot and stayed more than warm throughout the whole shave. The cork is garbage. Attention Silver Fox, you have a great product but the cork is crap. As other reviews said, it is actually crap. The weight of the bowl: the bowl is heavy when filled with water. Holding it by the handle while its wet is difficult. It slips. My hands are large so I just cupped it in my hand. By the way, it is a large bowl. And if your water is too hot, you might not be able to cup it by hand at first. Girlfriends: Buy this for your man. He will appreciate it. It is a real nice gift. And if he enjoys shaving this will make it more enjoyable. Guys: Buy this for yourself. It will help you get a girlfriend. Guys who have a girlfriend. Still buy it for yourself. It's a nice "me" gift.

Hot lather is primo!
Great idea, it works! I fill my water reservoir using hot water heated in the microwave. Hotter than tap water and does the job as meant to. The cup itself builds a great lather and stays warm for touching up after your initial shave. What I like about using this method is the newer conventional sensitive skin, extra ingredient shaving creams are usually thick, oily and messy. They eventually clogged my bathroom sink with all the oils in those new types of shaving creams. Taking apart my sink, I had to clear the black oily & greasy mess from the drain pipe. Didn't seem possible, but it happened. Using the saving soap is a dream, goes through the drain like soap should. And the big bonus is the great warm lather and shave. Should have done this years ago. Some old school methods are still best. Just shop around for the soap puck that best suits you.

Warm lather! Send your face to a spa of its own with this product!
Very nicely packaged in a VERY nice box that would be perfect for a gift! I'm stingy, however, so I ordered this excellent yet inexpensive shaving Scuttle for ME! ME! Me! Me! When using this I filled the internal chamber with hot water, adding hot water to the bowl portion as well, left my brush in the bowl to also soak and warm up and took a shower. When I got out and started whipping up my lather it was WONDERFULLY WARM! I face shave AND head shave, and there was enough room in the bowl to make lather for both and the best part? The lather stayed very warm FOR THE ENTIRE SHAVE!!!

I love it!
I switched from an electric shaver (Braun) to wet shaving a couple of months ago. Shaving with warm lather has changed shaving from something I just did for work to something I actually find pleasure in doing now. The Scuttle Shaving Bowl has been marvelous. I use a small amount of cream ( I only use a fingertip amount) and I've been able to work up enough lather in this bowl for two passes. The bowl has succeeded in keeping the lather warm the entire time. I have totally recommended this bowl to my friends, via social media, who had also expressed an interest in wet shaving.

Love the scuttle, but the brush and shavette are so-so
I bought this item mainly for the scuttle after breaking a ceramic scuttle. The scuttle is remarkably light but works as it should, keeping the shave soap warm. It is a bit pricey, but I don't like plastic scuttles and I found out the hard way with the ceramic scuttle. The other items are so-so. I have many restored vintage shaving brushes so I'm not going to use the supplied brush. I also use a safety razor so I'm not interested (and not brave enough) to use the shavette. If you are buying this for a parent or friend, you may want to purchase a quality brush and a safety razor to round out the gift. I'll probably throw out the brush and razor that came with this scuttle.

Good quality build and does what it is intended to do.
I was looking for a shaving scuttle for a while, but didn't want to spend too much money. Most that I found were smooth within the cup portion and I didn't particularly like that. This scuttle however, is made very well and had multiple ridges within the cup. I use P160 shaving soap, and the larger came out very nice and warm. I've used it almost every other day since it arrived and didn't see any issues with chipping or flakes coming apart. I would definitely recommend this scuttle if you're looking to upgrade your shave.
