I've been reading this to my seven-year-old, and he loves it. Not a book for independent reading at his age but a fun book to read together.

What a great book!! Lovely quality, exciting illustrations and perfect prose for my two boys aged 8 and 10 - reluctant as they are, they are gripped. Just as I remembered from my school days but better with illustrations. Need to find more in the series!

Interesting information about Odessious and his adventures. Quite an easy read for an eight year old. Some good illustrations.

The only “adversely” critical thing I can say about this book is that the beautiful illustrations were wasted on a 7 year old boy. The story was well appreciated though.

I don't think this could be any better! The retelling is lively, and reads aloud wonderfully. The pictures are evocative and stunning to look at. All my children love it, and it was an absolute pleasure to read. It's possible that younger, or more timid children might find the story a bit scary (all Odysseus' men die, mostly in gruesome ways), so pre-reading is probably advisable.
