Excellent product- exceeds my expectations
TLDR: Don't expect "fried" foods, but it beats easily beats an oven for crispy foods either from scratch or from the freezer section of the megamart. Pricey, but high quality from a reputable company. Big enough for a family of 6. Easy to use and easy to clean. Full review: Night one, we tried an assortment of frozen convenience foods- french fries, chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, poppers, and taquitos. Some were just slightly better than the oven, some (the fries especially) were better than the oven, and the taquitos, which came out perfect, beat their fried version, giving all the crunch but zero grease. The next morning, we tried cinnamon-sugar dusted canned biscuit donuts. My kids were in heaven. They didn't even notice that I used Splenda instead of sugar, saving carbs and calories. Yum. Since then, we've baked a cake, made homemade citrus-rosemary chicken breast, roasted Brussel Sprouts (pictured with a Sous Vide sirloin,) buffalo wings, and puff pastry chocolate pockets. All were excellent. The XXL is reasonably quiet, considering the internal fan- roughly equivalent to a microwave from the 1990s. The controls are simple to use and, being analog, shouldn't fail on us (an issue for those machines with digital touch screens, or so I am told) and the non-stick surfaces are easy to clean. In short, it works like a dream- but, according to the reviews, so do many less expensive models from other manufacturers. So one question remains: is Phillips really worth the price tag? I spent a year researching before buying. I'm that kind of person. My wife and I teach public school in red states and we've got four growing kids, so budget matters in my house. The Phillips won be over based on build quality and support options. If you look at any Phillips model side by side with the other brands in most stores, you can see and feel the difference. The basket, the base, heck, even the plastic just feel better. And when you read the reviews, it seems as if other brands have a high number of lemons plus poor customer service. Many people rave about other brands, but those who run into issues frequently complain that repairs and replacements can be difficult or downright impossible. I know for a fact that Phillips does repair and replace. In fact, I have done business with one of their authorized repair centers in the past when I bought a refurbished espresso machine. Sure, I could have gambled with a cheaper brand and hoped I got one of the good ones. I probably would have been OK. But with the Phillips, I trust my investment. Plus, it helps that Amazon is letting me spread the cost out over 12 months interest free on my Prime card, easing the strain on my wallet. I have no regrets at this stage of the game. I am hoping this machine will last my family for years to come.

A Family Favorite Thatโs Still Going Strong After Four Years!
I purchased the Philips Premium Airfryer XXL four years ago, and itโs been a total game-changer for my family. We still use it several times a week, and every one of usโkids and adults alikeโabsolutely loves it. From crispy fries to juicy chicken wings, this air fryer has become a kitchen MVP thatโs held up beautifully over time. Itโs hands down one of the best appliances weโve ever owned, and I canโt imagine cooking without it! Pros: โข Incredible Durability: Four years of frequent use, and itโs still running like a champ! The build quality is top-notchโthe sleek black finish looks as good as new, and all the components are holding strong. โข Fat Removal Magic: The Twin TurboStar technology really worksโweโve enjoyed healthier meals with up to 90% less fat, and the food still tastes amazing. Itโs a guilt-free win for the whole family! โข XXL Capacity: This thing is huge! It easily fits a whole chicken or enough fries for all five of us in one go. Perfect for family dinners or hosting friends. โข Versatile and Easy: Weโve air-fried, roasted, grilled, and even baked with it. The controls are intuitive, and cleanup is a breeze thanks to the dishwasher-safe basket (though we usually just wipe it down). โข Consistently Delicious Results: Crispy on the outside, tender insideโevery time. Itโs foolproof, even when the kids take over the cooking! Cons: โข Size Takes Up Space: Itโs an XXL model, so it does claim a chunk of counter space. Not a dealbreaker for us, but worth considering if your kitchen is tight. โข Slight Learning Curve Early On: It took a few tries to nail the timing for some recipes four years ago (pre-internet recipe boom!), but once we got the hang of it, itโs been smooth sailing. The Philips Premium Airfryer XXL has been a rockstar in our home for four years and counting. Itโs reliable, delivers mouthwatering meals, and has made healthy cooking fun and effortless. My familyโs unanimous love for it says it allโthis air fryer is worth every penny and deserves a glowing five stars. If youโre on the fence, just buy itโyou wonโt regret it!

A healthy delicious way to "fry"
This does not shorten cook times so be aware of that. It is just a healthy alternative cooking method and I think it was worth the money. Be cautious of potatoes and sweet potatoes because they can be cooked perfectly but if you leave them in there that heat still circulates and cooks them and when you pull them out perfect potatoes from 10 minutes ago are not so perfect, so empty your basket right away. We have been successful with potato wedges, buttermilk chicken wings, pork chops, and squash chips... also be careful of recipes requesting flour. Potato starch works better in this machine, but season the flour or starch rather than your meat directly, if you did not marinate your meat. Good luck to all. --Feb 25, 2020 Update Be prepared for smoke when air-frying meat. We learned to move the unit outside for the 23 minutes it takes to cook a batch of chicken wings. It's light and easy to move. Be sure it cools completely before attempting to bring it back in for cleaning. I still give it 5 stars BUT after just 2 months ALL of the numbers have just rubbed off of our timer's dial. Oil builds up on it from the cooking process so, when I wiped it clean, the numbers eventually disappeared. I ordered this one because I thought it would be easier for my oldest to make a snack than to have to program the newer digital model. If this unit ever breaks, I'm upgrading to something with digital features. I used a white out pen to rewrite the numbers on and seal with clear nail polish. Just as temporary. Our air fryer gets a lot of love. I am still pleased with the cooking times and results. I am always amazed at the amount of fat that drips from the meat but still give crispy and juicy results. It took quite a few attempts before we achieved "crispy" air fried meat. (BTW, For crispy breadless chicken wings, add 1 tsp of baking powder to your seasoning!) Because of the numbers fading away, I wouldn't get this model again or recommend it, BUT stick with Philips and go for the model with the digital features. They nailed the cooking.

Very good fryer. Poorly executed.
There is a learning curve with air fryers. Most of the things we toasted, fried, and baked can be done in the air fryer. If you are going to bake, go ahead and get the baking pan. Any dough put directly in the standard basket will go through the wire bottom. It is very easy to clean. The food comes out very crisp. This includes toasted items. Light items can blow up into the heating element. My biggest complaint is the analog dial on the front that is used for timing. It's 2019 and for the 250 usd I paided for this fryer you would think a 50 cent led timer would not be a stretch. The dial has already slipped from the numbers. I can't set it for exact time. It turns off before reaching zero. Also the designer that thought gray on black was a good choice. I have a few choice words for you. Final line. I like the fryer. If I had to purchase it again I would find the digital version and spend the $50 extra dollars.

Easiest to clean airfryer I've encountered.
I don't often leave reviews for products on here but after a couple weeks with this I had to. This is without a doubt the best airfryer I've ever had. One of the major issues I have with airfryers is just how much of a pain they are to clean. They always have annoying nooks and crannies to get into, the drawer doesn't come out, there's tight corners where crumbs will bake over and over and get stuck. Not this one though. The drawer comes completely out. While scrubbing the grate I did have a complaint about the design in that it would be so much easier to clean if the grate came out as crumbs were accumulating beneath the edges of the grate... and like magic I noticed the elbow latches keeping the grate in. The grate comes out! Holy moly is this thing easy to clean. The only complaint I can possibly have for this is that the analog knobs don't feel especially accurate. This is just a downside of analog as a whole but these knobs could have been made bigger to mark times and temperatures better. Still better than having a digital airfryer with a more limited lifetime.

Wasting money
It has been just six months since purchased, but is already out of order although I used one or two times a week. Very bad quality.

This is a fantastic air fryer, except the temp indicator light does not work.
I absolutely love this air fryer, but I believe there is a design flaw? There is an indicator light that is supposed to stay on until the desired temperature is reached. My indicator light NEVER goes off. The company is good to deal with on the warranty, and they sent me a replacement. HOWEVER, the second brand new unit they sent does THE SAME THING. The indicator light NEVER goes off. SO, I am worried that either it is not reaching temp, or maybe the thermostat doesn't work properly and it could get too hot. This makes me uneasy because of the remote chance of a fire problem. Otherwise, this is a fantastic air fryer. Everything tastes AMAZING cooked in it, and it is easy to use and clean. The design and appearance are very nice. It looks nice on my counter (I have the white one, and it looks so clean and sleek.) I just keep using it in spite of my concerns because I love it so much. I just wish the temp indicator light was not an issue.

PHILIPS...BY FAR THE BEST AIR FRYER ON THE MARKET !!!
PHILIPS...BY FAR THE BEST AIR FRYER ON THE MARKET !!! i have had an original philips air fryer for just about ten years and aside from some rusty ares on the star shaped bucket which doesnt touch food it is working spectacularly. i made cakes breaded meats french fries and i have learned secrets to using it is to make your own food rules testing times and temp for your area depending on how you want each items cooked. of course frozen items are the easiest and on many occasions its save a bundle in take out when u can have a hot fresh ready in minutes like it was just cooked frozen thing like fries chicken nuggets lean pocket etc .so no calls to take out !!!accessories are great shish kabob stand etc. WELL THAT BEING SAID ... "PHILIPS IS BY FAR THE BEST ..." IS BECAUSE I RECENTLY MADE A PURCHASE OF THE PHILIPS XXL MODEL because i had bought the POWER AIR FRYER OVEN ELITE WHICH WA HORRIBLE AND FAILED IN JUST 8 MONTHS ...CAPUT!!1 so i went back to the original the star shape makes a big different in diffusing air get food cooked right without burning edges or leaving things part raw like power oven did . three customer service was bad...and only 3 month warranty on an almost $200 item.Wow! also the oven didnt come with all accessory pictured but i called them they sent accept for the actual thing that i guess in hindsight made the biggest difference==the top air diffuser. i called the co for month and months till after 4 they said its not available . so i just adjusted temp and times to get decent cooking. soooo thats why i went back to buy the philips ,they are quality ,stand behind product . i also called them to ask or suggest to make an oven since i really wanted those features of trays rotisserie etc .oh well

Eat healthier!
This is a terrific machine if you want to eat healthier and avoid fried food saturated in oil. I find myself using it more all the time as it cooks so rapidly and makes food nice and crispy on the outside with only a fine mist of oil. I eat a plant-based diet and also ordered a vegan air fryer recipe book that includes easy and tasty recipes! I think it's well worth getting this larger size machine even if you're cooking for one or two. I highly recommend!
