The man that was once a broken boy that was let down by an entire town. Archer isn’t equipped to be social. He’s locked himself away and Bree is slowly coaxing him out little by little. He’s had to live his life and his experiences without the ability to ever really understand them. Finding Bree attractive, understanding his reaction to her and understanding that she was reacting the same way... that moment was beautifully awkward and was just a wee bit heartbreaking; realizing that something as simple as being able to experience that was lost to him until that moment. As Bree attempts to bring him out into the public, to start living again he comes face to face with the ugliness of some people. There was zero redemption for Travis, for me. That club scene and the little comments here and there... did me in. My heart was breaking in these moments for Bree, but most of all for Archer because no matter how old he was, part of him was still that seven year old little boy and his pain kept him from knowing anything beyond that. Bree didn’t just wake something in this beautiful man, she brought life to him. Her love gave him strength, but he needed more. He needed to find his own strength and his own worthiness, if he was ever going to be able to give Bree an ounce of what she gave him, he had to find a way to do that. Because for the first time he had a reason to risk suffering the possibility of loving someone and the pain that it would cause if he ever lost it. Archer’s Voice was a fantastically written love story. It was beautifully tragic and was one of those stories that cuts you deep. Beyond just how well written this was, it moved you. It was a book you felt more so than you read, and it was not one that just let your emotions simmer, you boiled over. Whether it was moments when your heart was so full it could burst or those moments when you felt like someone had just torn your heart out of your chest. You. Felt. It. There are times when you stumble across a book and the way the author is able to tell their story is all encompassing, you don’t just read it, you breathe it... it’s like a movie is playing in your head, this is that kind of book. It’s one that carries a message and has the ability to make you look twice at something you might not have given a second glance to the day before. The way these two were both so broken, but yet wanted nothing more than to fix each other – even when they weren’t fully able to fix themselves. Sacrifice, love and beyond everything else, just seeing the other person and giving them a sense of worth – a feeling that they matter, even if it is just to that other person. Mia Sheridan did an exceptional job showcasing these characters and creating a story that flowed perfectly and was so much bigger than just what she created on these pages. She gave life to this book and as a reader there is no greater gift an author can give than giving you a piece of themselves that extends so far beyond typed words. After this experience, I can’t wait to read the other titles in this series and to let her be my guide on this journey.

This is my first book by Mia Sheridan and I’m highly impressed with her gorgeous, captivating writing style. The reason I picked up this book is because I had heard great things about it on some of my favorite blogs. Plus, I really just wanted to meet our wounded, reclusive, virgin hero, Archer. I do love virgin heroes. Bree Prescott has suffered a horrible tragedy and needed to get away. She impulsively jumped in her car, with her dog, and drove to a random small town in Maine where she rents a small cottage, gets a job at a local diner, and meets some friends. Going to a small town was her way of finding peace and the inner healing she desperately needed. Little did she know a man with spellbinding, whiskey colored eyes would change her life the day she drops her groceries on the ground and he helps her pick them up. Archer is mute, resulting from an incident that happened when he was just seven years old. Because he doesn’t speak and was raised by his uncle (now deceased), who was slightly crazy and suffering from PTSD, he became a loner and isolated himself from the world, living on his land and rarely coming to town. The town people view him as strange and ignorant, never making any attempt to get to know this beautiful and smart man. Archer is also harboring dark secrets from his childhood that haunt him every day. "Something about Archer Hale intrigued me - something I couldn’t put my finger on. Something that went beyond the fact that he couldn’t hear or speak and that I was intimately acquainted with that particular disability." Archer is a mystery to Bree – a mystery she is intrigued by. Every day she goes to the lake to swim she stops by his house to hang out and every day Archer looks forward to her visits. Most of the story is Bree and Archer spending time getting to know one another. Bree knows sign language since someone close to her was deaf. Her ability to sign made it easier for her and Archer to connect and form a deep bond that grows and changes the more time they spend together. They are both very attracted to one another and the heat between them continues to ratchet up every day. And man, does Sheridan know how to write some fiery sexual tension. I couldn’t wait for these two to jump each other’s bones. But because of Archer’s inexperience with women, he was shy and timid when it came to feelings and sex. Bree is a straight-forward woman and wasn’t afraid to teach him how to be a good lover. “I know you like my hands in your hair. Show me other ways you like to be touched. Teach me what you like,” he said. Their sexual chemistry rages hot. I loved reading as Archer reacts to his lust and desire for Bree; discovering what pleases him and what pleases her was all new to him but he caught on quickly. *wink* What I loved the most is how the intimacy between them was not only hot but also deeply touching. Archer is one of the most beautifully wounded, complex, and memorable heroes I’ve read in a while. One of the things that stood out to me the most about him is his sensitivity and intense love for Bree. Not to mention he’s smoking hot with an understated alpha side. Archer made me weak in the knees. And Bree is a pretty darn awesome heroine. It was easy to fall in love with her. With her compassion, understanding, and patience she is the perfect heroine for Archer. She helps Archer with his transformation as he finds his voice in a world he thought he didn’t belong in. Archer, in turn, helps Bree liberate herself from the fears that made her afraid to live her life. These two together squeezed my heart. “I lost my heart to you. And, Bree, in case you're wondering, I don't ever want it back.” (*happy sigh*) The main conflict of the story is driven by the other Hales in the town. One of the characters introduced in the story is Archer’s cousin, Travis Hale. Archer and Travis have never had a close relationship. Travis thinks Archer is a freak and doesn’t understand him. Travis is the gorgeous playboy all the women want a piece of. But Bree didn’t want him. She wanted Archer. And this proved to be a challenge for Travis, so he caused drama through manipulating Archer. You also learn about Archer’s secrets and complicated past that include his mother, uncle, and father. This is a sad tale of jealousy, addiction, love, and abuse. I will have to admit there are some moments in the book I thought were overly mushy and the characters came across as a bit young and cheesy. However, I truly did love this highly emotional, thought-provoking, sweet and romantic story. It’s nothing like I’ve read before and it’s one of those books that will stay with you. Let me start this review by saying, I didn't really want to read this book in the beginning. Every bookworm I knew kept bugging me to read the book, that is was amazing and the best book they've ever read, so it made me wary. Usually when people say things like this about a book, and I try reading the book, it doesn't live up to the praise they gave it and I end up feeling disappointed. But I'm glad I gave this book a chance. It was a well-written and outstanding book! In my opinion, this book is one of those novels that you'll be thinking about years later, long after you have finished it. I still can't stop thinking about it! Bree Prescott is looking for a place far away from her home. She needs time to reflect on how her life is going and all the terrible events that had happened in the past. She comes across the lakeside town of Pelion, Maine and hopes she can find some peace there. On her very first day there, she collides, literally, into the mysterious and handsome Archer Hale. A man who holds in so much pain and chooses to live his life in isolation. He's a man no one notices. And he wants to keep it that way. Together, their wounds will heal. Love is the most powerful force in the world, but it also is a frightening adventure that can change a person. This story is about two wounded characters that fight against their demons, together. It's about a silent man, who holds in so much pain, but with the help of Bree, finds his voice. And it's about a man, who holds the key to free Bree's freedom. Love can heal them. But will love be enough? There's so many things I loved about this book, but I'll name a few right now. First, I love both Bree and Archer's stories. Both of them faced challenges that made them the people they are today and they both understood each other. I love how Bree was always there for Archer. That she wasn't one of those needy main characters, who did whatever the male main character said, when they said it. She was a strong, independent woman who saw something in a broken man no one saw. She was just an all around good character. She was a breath of fresh air. My favorite thing about this book was the chemistry and love I felt in this novel. Most novels, the characters fall for each other the first few pages and say 'I love you" right away. That's not always a bad thing, but I liked how Bree and Archer were more than that. They spent time together. Were there for each other as friends before they were a couple. Archer might have been silent, but his feelings for Bree spoke volumes. I could feel the love that blossomed from both characters and it brought tears to my eyes. Also, I have to say that Archer is one of my favorite characters in history and his story broke my heart, but filled me with hope. I highly recommend this beautiful novel. It's a standalone that will leave you an emotional wreck, but you'll be smiling at the end because it's such a beautiful story. One of the most unique story-lines I've ever read. If you're unsure on whether to read this book or not, like I was, I encourage you to try it. Like I said in the beginning of this book, Archer's Voice is one of those novels that you'll never forget. My favorite quotes: "She had told me my voice mattered, and her love had made me believe it might be true. And sometimes, that's all it takes--one person who's willing to listen to your heart, to the sound no one else has ever tried to hear." "And her love slips quietly around me, holding me, anchoring me, reminding me that the loudest words are the ones we live." "And I thought to myself, Archer Hale's voice was one of the most beautiful things in the whole wide world." "Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words."

Please note this review may contain spoilers. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Endearing. Sweet. Romantic. Lovely. Wonderful. I’m sure there are many more words to describe how amazing ARCHER’S VOICE was, but I think I’m suffering from my worst book hangover ever. I finished reading this book 36 hours before writing this review, and I still can’t get the book out of my mind. But how can I write a review when all I want to do is spill my guts about it? I’ll start with Bree. After surviving an attempted robbery where her father was murdered, she moves to a town that holds happy memories from her childhood. She quickly finds a sense of peace, some new friends and a new job. She also encounters Archer, a man ignored by the town at large. She sees through the ratty clothes, the shaggy hair and great big bushy beard and senses a lost soul not unlike her own. With determination, she wedges her way into Archer’s life and quickly becomes his only friend. And in Archer’s arms, she finds real peace from the nightmares that haunt her daily. Archer. Oh my god, Archer. I love him. Seriously, I think he has become my ultimate book boyfriend. After everything he endured since childhood, how he ends up being the sweetest and most loving man on the face of the planet is beyond me. He’s survived the loss of his parents, an attack that took away his voice, a vindictive aunt who ensured he never speak again, a cousin who uses his naivety against him to ruin his life, and a town full of people who just don’t know what to think about him or what to do with him, forcing him to live his life in solitude. Until Bree arrives in town. It took a lot of courage for him to trust that she wouldn’t hurt him and to believe that perhaps he could have a normal life just like everybody else. ARCHER’S VOICE is mainly told from Bree’s POV but does include a couple of chapters in Archer’s POV. It also includes flashbacks to Archer’s childhood so that we learn some of what happened to him. It’s a long read, but the story is so good and moves at a perfect pace that you don’t notice. This was one of those stories that I was still reading at 1.30 in the morning and I really didn’t want to put down to go to sleep. I seriously considered reading through the night because as I laid in bed, the story was replaying in vivid colour in my head. I picked it up again first thing in the morning and family breakfast and toilet breaks could wait because all I wanted to do was get to the end. But at the same time, I didn’t want to get to the end because I didn’t want this amazingly beautiful story to ever finish. And then when I got closer to the end and the story looked like it’s going to end in the cruelest way known to woman, I was debating whether to keep going, because if the author was going to destroy me like this, if she was going to rip out my heart and stomp on it, then I wanted to live in denial for a little while longer. But I kept reading and the author very kindly gave me a very nice HEA. Luckily for her too, because if she had hurt me, I was going to study black magic and put a hex on her. Swear to god. If you haven’t read this book yet, do so as quickly as possible because you are missing out.

Bree left the place where memories of her parents were made and headed on a road trip to escape those painful memories. Her travels brought her to small town lake community in Pelion where she rented a cottage. Bree settled in quickly making friends and earning money as a waitress. … Archer grew up in Pelion. In fact, his family has owned the land for generations. His father and uncles settled here fighting over the same young girl. In the end. Marcus was the one to marry her. The brothers continued to fight for her until a fatal accident ended there lives. Archer was scarred and left without a voice. He lived with his uncle who suffered from PTSD until he too died leaving Archer alone. … An entire community looked upon Archer as some freak because he couldn’t speak. The scar scared many people. Archer secluded himself in the home his uncle lived in. When Bree arrived she saw a man who intrigued her. Archer was curious about Bree who wouldn’t stop talking. … Archer’s Voice is a sweet small town romance between the silent man and the outsider. It’s a slow building romance where Archer and Bree explore each other using sign and body language. Both are working through a painful past. Bree saw potential in Archer in a town where others turned their back on him. She opens the eyes of people who only saw Archer as a freak. … Mia Sheridan has a sweet and tender writing voice. She’s in tune with human emotion and expressing reactions with wonder and excitement. It’s a pleasure reading her words that evoke so much passion. Archer is a beautiful character with a unique situation and Bree is this shining star who captures the sun’s beauty with her patience and grace. Archer’s innocence was sweet and enduring and Bree was this tender loving teacher. Mia Sheridan did a phenomenal job writing Archer’s character. His youthful innocence was exceptionally written.

Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan is a story of two people, both very different and yet bound by one similarity. They are both broken and have faced great trauma in their lives which has forced them to live in fear. What happens when they cross paths and fall in love with each other is what Mia Sheridan sensitively and with heart wrenching frankness narrates in this novel where she raises the question "Is love enough?". I had been hearing so much about this book from quite sometime and while this made me really inquisitive, I also got a bit fearful of what would happen if I didn't like it! It's always a shame when I don't like a book that majority of my reader buddies have already swooned over. However, here in this case, I am so so happy to say that I absolutely, without question adored Archer's Voice. It is one of the best books that I have read in quite sometime. A unique story that made a deep impression on my mind, I know I can re-red this book. The cover is arresting and intriguing with a fine specimen of a man on the front. LOL But it was the title and the blurb that really had me picking up this book up after I had already heard so many good things about it. It is both interesting with that balance of mystery and promise of a good heartfelt romance plus it also creates an urgency in the reader to go read the book. This was the first book by Mia Sheridan that I read but I have already fallen in love with her writing. She has beautifully balanced mystery with romance and made me laugh, sniffle, be so angry that I felt like smacking a few characters in the book, cry my eyes out and then smile and sigh deeply like a love struck teenager, all in the span of one story. Brutally honest, Mia depicts a scenario that looks all too true. She doesn't try to gloss over the cruelty of mankind and society when they scorn everyone and everything they don't understand, focussing on the fact that people never dare to go against the society and rarely once try to take up that courage to really stand out and try to understand. The author's writing style is simple, engaging and elicits emotions so beautifully that I felt like everything was happening to me first hand. All through, I felt this urgency to make things right for Archer and Bree and when a few times in the book, I thought something drastic had happened to these beloved characters, it was like my own heart stopped. The story is mostly told from Bree's POV but a few chapters are dedicated to share Archer's POV too. The mystery, suspense and a sense of foreboding to danger is beautifully captured by the author in the book. The pace is balanced and this book is so engrossing that you won't be able to leave it once you start reading it. I missed all my work when I sat down to read it, despite the promise I had made myself that I would read only a few chapters. The characters are people who seem all too normal with their daily routines and not-so-perfect lives. Archer is a true "wounded" hero who instantly endeared himself to me and I seriously wished I could meet and heal him. Taking Bree's place would not be a bad idea here. LOL, just kidding. He is pure hotness with a mysterious and broken feel about him that instantly makes us want to make him happy. Bree, on the other hand, is independent, bubbly and cute. She is a normal girl but one who has faced hell and is still reliving it due to her trauma. Her protective role in Archer's life and Archer's slowly developed but still soul deep love for her had me wishing for a happily-ever-after for them and hoping I could meet them someday! They make each other better and also make each other vulnerable, which is the beauty of true love. The other characters are also suitably placed and act beautifully in their roles to take the story forward. The book is a part of the "Sign of Love" series but still a standalone story based on the sun sign, Sagittarius. It has some adult content and so should be read only by people above the age of eighteen. A definite winner, Archer's Voice is a must read for all romance lovers. This book is so much more than just romance. It tugs at our heartstrings, makes us re-examine our behaviour towards people and then believe in the magic of true love that can heal all scars and all wounds. 5 super glowing stars to it and strongly recommended to everyone. I was thinking this was an HEA but towards the end I got a little iffy ! I loved the bond archer and Bree had. The biggest thing was she knew sign language too and that was so cool to read! So much heartbreak for such a young man but it turned out great. Glad I read this.

A LOVE STORY you will NEVER forget! Archer’s Voice left me speechless! This book was in one word….PERFECTION! I can’t get over how much this story has touched my heart and soul! I have the Book Hangover to end all Book Hangovers! I have read some romance books that had me in a whirlwind of emotions; but I don’t think I have ever been so touched by a love story this deep, this real, and this profound that even after a week has gone by, I’m still thinking about it. I know reviewers don’t like to say this, but Archer’s Voice is one of the greatest love stories that I have ever read. I’ve heard stories of books that have changed a person’s life, changed the way a person see’s their life, but I’ve never experienced it myself…until now. ❝You can’t hear me… I can’t help that… But I want you to see me❞ Do you believe in fate, like two people who were meant to be together? If you read Archer’s Voice, you will have no choice, but to believe. Both of these characters, Bree and Archer, they are dealing with pains from their pasts that are so beyond anything that I can imagine. For an author who can transport your mind directly to a scene, where you feel helplessness, intense heartache, and profound sadness, it’s an incredible feat. I don’t know how the written word can be so damn intoxicating that you forget what is going on around you. It’s just magical. Bree Prescott has run away from home, fleeing from the only thing she knows because of an event that pained her with such sadness. Hoping to get away from the memories and the horrible flashbacks, she finds herself in a small town where no one knows her and hopefully she can finally move past her grief and start to heal. Even though she is in a new place, with new people, she feels drawn to a man she bumps into on the sidewalk. Enter Archer Hale. The awkward meeting between the two did not deter Bree from seeking Archer out, learning more about him. There was just something about his eyes that made her worries go away, even if for a little while. She has to know more about this silent mystery man. Archer Hale, oh jesus, where the hell do I start. He has been on his own ever since he was a child. The flashbacks we get of his childhood will rock you to your core. It’s horrible, unfathomable, and just plain sad. The people in town have their opinions of what happened to him, but they never really took the time to get to know him, and Archer was okay with that. He has learned at a young age, that he needs to take care of himself, and not worry about what people say or think of him. When he first bumps in to Bree he is fascinated by the embarrassment that she exudes. He is intrigued by the woman who doesn’t look at him with pity, but of pure friendliness. ❝It was as if my body was his instrument and he learned to play it so perfectly that the melody vibrated within my very soul.❞ This couple has everything going against them, and yet, they work so very hard at overcoming the obstacles that are put in their way. Archer has never really wanted anything more out of life until Bree came along. Bree never thought she could get past her demons until Archer came along. The chemistry, the bond that these two characters share, it makes you believe that true love, true adoration can get you through the toughest barriers. Bree and Archer both had fears. Their past gave them no choice in that matter. Some people live with fears like that and it eats away at their soul. Through the love they shared, they were able to embrace their fears and triumph over their doubts. Although, it took some extreme measures, and setbacks, they made it through the storm and finally became whole. ❝I think love is a concept, and each person has an individual word for what sums it up for them. My word for love is Bree.❞ Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan was impeccably written, superb in every way. It will burrow in to your heart and never leave. It will touch your souls in ways you can’t even imagine. It will break your heart and slowly and carefully put it back together. For those of you who are used to the typical alpha male, who demands your heart and dominates your soul, be prepared for a whole new breed of hero. Archer Hale is an unsung hero. He will not demand your heart or your soul. He will simply ask for it, and will ask that you only take his in return and never let it go. To sum it up, Mia Sheridan is pure genius, and she deserves everything good in the world, because she gave us Archer Hale.

The book came in a good condition it was a little dirty tho but I just cleaned it. The plot was sooo good and I really loved the characters. I highly recommend reading the book if you’re looking for a romance book. I’m not sure if the book contains sensitive topics but you can check the content warning

This silent, beautiful, broken man had a heart of gold but was misunderstood by everyone around him. Archer was sweet, shy, honest, loyal and protective. But oh, the injustice this man went through since he was 7 years old was cruel and heartbreaking. Archer's past slowly unfolds in a series of flashbacks that left me sick to my stomach. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and take away all the pain and loneliness he endured. I wanted to undo everything evil and painful in his life. Bree Prescott was beautiful on the inside and out; a genuinely sweet, caring and gentle heroine that I would have been honoured to be friends with. She understood Archer on so many levels and her patience and determination to know Archer was commendable. Bree is also marred by a single event in her past that is haunting her. It is with Archer that she finds a way to overcome her fears. The connection between Archer and Bree was electrifying and intense. The attraction and pull was palpable right from their very first encounter, but Ms. Sheridan perfectly paces the story as we see the relationship between Archer and Bree develop and grow. The build up towards their first time together (Archer's first time ever) was amazing and when it finally happened, it was absolutely beautiful and tender. I loved that this couple had no misunderstandings and unnecessary dramas. Their decisions, whether made together or on their own, always made sense to me. Ms. Sheridan's narrative was spellbinding and kept me riveted to the book right from the very start. I felt so much love for Archer and Bree, and wanted desperately for them to have their HEA. The epilogue left me speechless and my heart was bursting to the brim with so much love. This is a tale of EPIC proportion and will forever stay in my heart.

After finishing To Catch a Firefly, Archer’s Voice popped up as a Kindle recommendation, and I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am that it did. From the very first chapters, this story pulled me in. It was quietly powerful, full of heartbreak, hope, and the kind of tenderness that lingers long after you finish listening. Archer Hale… my heart absolutely shattered for him. This beautiful, good man had endured so much in his life — pain, tragedy, and years of complete isolation. He lived in a world of silence, both literally and emotionally, and my chest physically hurt reading about his loneliness. And then Bree came along — soft, patient, understanding, and carrying her own grief. She didn’t try to fix him or force him to open up. She simply saw him. She listened. She loved him in the gentlest way possible. The connection between Bree and Archer was one of the most pure and healing love stories I’ve ever read. Every interaction between them felt so real — the hesitations, the trust slowly building, the vulnerability. It wasn’t instant or dramatic; it was human. The reason behind Archer’s mutism was absolutely heartbreaking. Once I understood his past, I just wanted to step into the story and wrap him in the biggest hug. The pain and trauma he carried were immense, but what broke me most was how he still remained kind, good, and humble despite everything. This book took me through a full spectrum of emotions — anger, grief, love, hope, happiness, sadness. At one point, I was so shocked by what happened that I literally sat frozen for a couple of minutes, thinking, “No, no, no — this cannot be how it ends.” 😭 Thankfully (without spoiling anything), there is a HEA — and a very satisfying one. The bonus epilogue from Archer’s POV and the alternate Chapter 15 were the perfect finishing touch. The audiobook narration was absolutely stunning. Emily Durante brought Bree to life with her soft, sweet, and calming voice — she was Bree. And although Kris Koscheski had fewer chapters, he gave such depth and emotion to Archer’s character. His quiet strength and vulnerability were so beautifully captured. I can’t believe Archer’s Voice was first published in 2014 and I only just discovered it now. It’s emotional, beautiful, and unforgettable — the kind of story that reminds you how healing love can truly be. If you love emotional, character-driven romances with small-town settings, deep trauma healing, and soul-level connection — Archer’s Voice is a must-read (or must-listen). 💔💫
