I have a cactus birdhouse and there is no opening at the bottom to clean out the nest. any suggestions? have i just missed the opening?

Attach a some fishing string to the bottom of the birdhouse to the tree that should stop it from spinning

Just under an inch. Haven't had any birdies use it yet!
