The band is a tough reinforced plastic—sort of like the bands that surround some packages. I have had it in place on a drawer that holds heavy dishes for a year now—still working great

Can this fit a 24” drawer

I believe so—I had 20” drawers and if I recall correctly there was ample extra that I cut off. You can adjust the strap to fit to fit multiple widths. I installed them well over 18!months ago and they are still going strong despite heavy ceramic dishes being stored in them. Good luck.

what size of a fix a drawer kit would i need for a drawer 14 inches across?

The kit I bought would be perfect for you. The straps on the kit are designed for the front to back measurement of your drawers. They are very long so you will need to cut them after you get the correct measurements. You must have a drill to use this product.
