This set is a really good value. The trap is quality and has stood up to months of use - still no rust on it. It's portable and easy to carry. I reinforced it with zip ties, so it won't fold down easily anymore, but it can also stand up to armadillo claws. They can't escape from it. This trap is also easily cleaned with a garden hose and high-pressure nozzle. The included gloves are also fantastic and well appreciated! They're some of the best gloves I've ever owned and I use them for handling everything from sharp metal to broken glass. This trap is effective, easy to tune/modify to your desired sensitivity, and can be integrated easily into fence lines, house borders, etc. It is a bit of a pain to open the rear door to release non-target animals. I'm still trying to think of a good mod for this. The present design puts your hand at risk of a bite or scratch, so you'll definitely want to use the gloves, and practice using this mechanism with the gloves on. Overall, these items have been a useful and well-valued part of my pest control methods and the gloves have helped with a ton of different jobs!

These traps will work well enough for a medium sized animal such as an Armadillo. I caught a relatively big one in it. Maybe 20 lbs. or so. The rear door is good for letting the animal out of the trap without getting your fingers in there, but it is a bit awkward. It would be good if they provided a more convenient latch on it. The trap works, but it isn't the sturdiest. The trigger plate inside the trap bent and it was difficult to get it working correctly again. Remember not to allow the floor plate trigger to fall in the opposite direction when you are unloading the trap with a heavy animal in it. The gloves are a nice addition, and I suspected they would be cheap. But I was pleasantly surprised at their quality. Remember to use the gloves when working with the cage with an animal in it. I don't think being scratched by a wild animal would be a good thing. The armadillo was able to destroy the lawn underneath the trap by sticking his claws out of the holes in the bottom. It might be a good idea to protect the lawn by placing something over it first before placing the trap. Just a thought.

This trap had some weak spots and I knew it going in, as other reviewers had mentioned it. So from the start I was prepared to reenforce the trap as best I could. I clamped the crimps tighter and added steel carabiners to each door to keep trapped animals from escaping. You can look at my photos and the extra hardware are circled in yellow. I also crimped the trip rod onto the spring to keep it from just hanging loosely! And used the carabiners to keep the rods that hold both doors and the cage shape firmness as well. I don’t plan to fold this up again. I just don’t want and escape! I paid $350. for a dead opossum removal from my crawl space 2 years ago OMG the stench was unbearable. I saw one on my security camera 6 days ago. It has to go! Update 2 opossums caught so far and 1 on the loose. But I will get that one too. They were a catch and release far from my home out in the country. I used caramel rice cakes with peanut butter and marshmallows. The trap is working fine.
