This product has a slightly tricky application method but once you use it correctly, it’s beautiful. Because it’s a serum and pigment hybrid encapsulated in pellets, the pellets must burst before applying it to the face/skin. So don’t apply directly to the skin. On the back of the hand or in your palm, use your CLEAN finger or a brush to burst the pellets completely. Then you can dot onto face or pick up with a brush and THEN apply to the skin. The luxury version works exactly the same way. You must do this first. If the pellets are broken up on the face, the application will be patchy. I LOVE this product. It’s amazing on my very mature skin. It does have coverage, more than you might expect because it is buildable. I do find the shade range runs quite light but the shade “light” does have a neutral undertone which is good but also surprising because so many drugstore complexion products run very warm (either very yellow or quite orangey). I find this product identical to the Chanel Water Fresh Tint but it has better coverage. The luxury version is very sheer but the principle of application is the same. I also like that this drugstore version is unscented or at least has no scent I can detect. The luxury product is highly fragranced and that’s off putting for me. As for wear time, it’s hard to say. I live in Florida and in the summertime I sweat like crazy so I have to use a waterproof setting spray. I don’t use powder because I don’t want to dim the radiance I get with this product. You could definitely do a light layer of powder wherever the shine is too much. It also doesn’t sink into fine lines and it minimizes texture too. All in all this was a great purchase. I no longer see the Perfecting Essence on drugstore shelves but found here on Amazon, yay! This isn’t my first purchase of this product. I first bought the shade fair but it was far too pale. Then I forgot about it until I almost bought the Chanel Water Fresh Tint and remembered this dupe was actually better. I highly recommend this product and this review comes from a retired professional makeup artist. I would keep this in my kit if I were still a working artist.

This is a wonderful, light foundation. I am an older lady and this, even though coverage is not heavy, gives your skin a beautiful, hydrated , dewy look. My pores still tend to clog and breakout with a lot of makeups and moisturizers. This has been wonderful for my skin. I have used Bakuchiol serum before without the foundation tint. It truly is a gentler type skin perfector. I used it when my Retin A became irritating. I will continure using this and hopefully it won't be discontinued. Color is perfect at 30 Light Medium

One of the most hydrating base products I've ever used but I just wish i gave a bit more coverage. This is very much a skin tint, not a foundation or full coverage product at all. Great for summer bc its very lightweight. Has a watery, almost gel like feel to it. Tiny beads of pigment encapsulated in a really smooth, nourishing formula that break as you rub it into the skin. The pigment provides very little coverage but it does even out my skintone and provide a little bit of a base for me to add my other cream n powder products over top. I usually use a brush to apply all my foundation but I prefer just my fingers to apply this. Blends n melts it in better. Very mature skin friendly. I use a translucent powder to set this with and feel it gives it a bit more longevity. Doesn't settle into any lines at all. Nice product. I have 2 shades n mix them to create my perfect neutral/cool shade match. No scent at all. Great product

I have been so impressed with this product! I've tried a variety of tinted moisturizers but they never seem to match because they are typically light, medium, dark. This product has a variety of shades that really match well. It's light weight, with coverage! I'm very happy I found this. It's now my daily go-to!

I’m impressed every time I wear this skin tint. It lasts all day on me, gives a beautiful glow(but not too much for my combo normal-oily skin type), doesn’t settle in lines, and just gives a beautiful overall veil of coverage. You have to break up the pigment beads before applying. I’ve found it best to apply with your fingers then press it in with a brush to blend. You really only need 1-2 pumps. I’m usually a light-medium neutral-olive skin tone in foundations. I got shade Light Neutral and it’s a touch too light for me, but I can make it work with bronzer. I like it enough to get a darker shade (medium olive) to mix. It has become my favorite everyday base!

I looove this foundation. It’s so hydrating and being in my 40s, hydration is needed. It was a perfect shade for summer, but I’ll need a lighter shade for the colder months. It’s not cakey or oily. I love it

I like this product ok as far as the final look, but it seems like it takes longer to put on than other foundations, because you have to really rub it in because of those little microbeads of serum or color or whatever that's all about.

I like this as a primer. It doesn't work as a foundation for me because it's too light. I ordered a shade darker than I normally wear, based on other reviews that said it was too light. It was STILL too light in color. I love the finish it provides. It perfects my skin and allows me to use my foundation with less concealer. It goes on easy. You only need one pump as a primer, so it will last a while. It's a bit pricey for a Covergirl product, but I really think it's a good value if you want a primer with perfecting coverage. I apply with a damp beauty sponge, let it dry for a couple of minutes, then apply my foundation. Picture 1 is nothing on my face, picture 2 is just this product on my face, picture 3 is all of my make up applied on top of it. It doesn't have a fragrance that I can tell, which i prefer. It is hydrating but it is not greasy. I have dry skin and prefer to use the lightest layer of setting powder in the center of my face only. This product doesn't require any additional setting powder, which i really appreciate. I don't know if I will buy it again or not. I will admit to being influenced by Nikki La Rose in purchasing this. If I had blemishes to cover (rare for me), I might consider wearing it all the time. Time will tell. Hope this helps with your purchases. Go up two shades if you plan to wear as foundation, or swap it in store somewhere.

Saw this being used by an American make up artist and saw that I could get it on Amazon in the UK . Brilliant for a natural look, even on mature skin. It is light as air ,with the feel of a serum ,yet it gives enough coverage ,is moisturising and leaves a natural healthy glow. I work it into my skin so the little bubbles of pigment disperse and it sinks into the skin, doesn't sit on top of it like foundations and even most skin tints. Anywhere I may need extra coverage like on stubborn pigmentation, I use a bit of a lightweight concealer . I love it and now use it everyday...even when I have a long day in an office. It also wears well so it's a winner for me!

This moisturizer/foundation is perfect for daily wear. It consists of tiny beads coloured in shades from very pale to dark to match various pigments in natural skin. The beads are suspended in a gel-like substance, but dissipate when this is applied to your skin. Gently massaging this (in small circles) mixes the two components and provides an even coverage to your skin. After is is applied, there is a slight glow or shine to your face, however, this disappears after awhile. If you prefer a matte finish to your makeup, this may not be the product for you, but I like the fact that it has a moisturizing effect on my skin for daily use. For evening -- you might want to try the CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation which will provide more coverage. This product is also cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, fragrance and talc-free and is recommended by dermatologists. I love this foundation and highly recommend it.

This is really nice . I don’t wear foundation often because I find it shows my wrinkles more. I had a bottle that was too light so I ordered a darker one to mix them together and I love it . It doesn’t show my wrinkles and look dry like other foundations

Honestly a little in love with this. Perfect for us early 2000s teens that still like to put foundation on with our whole hands when we're in a hurry, lol. Surprisingly full-medium coverage. Moisturizing and decently long wear, was able to sweat and blot/pat dry wothout losing coverage. Blends well with most creme sticks (contour, blush, etc). Doesn't really cake or crease and doesn't cling to fine lines or dry skin a way that looks worse. Probably wouldn't have at all except that I set it with power.
