55341 Vehicle-Side Custom 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness

Worked perfect for my 1998 4runner. Plug and play.

Works great easy to install plug and play. Design is different from the original the plug cable goes in the other side but you can just keep the cable in the trunk compartment. If you really wanted to run the cable through the bumper you could but you would have to either make bigger holes or cut the cables and reconnect them.

Exact fit for 2000 4Runner!! Super easy to install! I watched a YouTube video before installing so I would know how to remove the necessary panels. No drilling or modifications required. It was a little tricky getting the 4-pin flat plug thru the portion of the bumper that exits just above the spare tire, but only because the plug was a little bulky in comparison to others. This harness is literally plug and play. The connectors are male/female style so it’s impossible to plug into the wrong wire. I simply disconnected the battery before installing. I used a piece of electric fence wire to pull the wire thru the holes. Any stiff wire will work to fish thru the holes to attach the wire to so that it can be pulled to the other side. I chose this route instead of leaving wire beneath the carpet where abrasion could damage and/or short the wires. I highly recommend this product. I initially search for a Hopkins brand but the specific part number for this model of Toyota has been discontinued. I was unsuccessful finding another suitable harness before stumbling across this one. The reviews gave me enough assurance it would work and they proved right! I will come back to this brand the next time I need a harness.

Plug and play on my 1999 4Runner SR5. The little black box is originally on the drivers side, but with this setup it’s on the passengers side, which is no big deal. The ground will need to be screwed on to the drivers side, but there is a bold for it just as there is on the passengers side for the old system’s ground. Originally installed because my converter unit was bad and wasn’t sending the right turn signal. This is what you need for a 3rd gen 4runner. Way easier than wiring a new converter unit.

Worked perfectly - plug and play. Unit is designed to plug in on the passenger side of the vehicle but the factory unit is installed on the drivers side. If you install this on the passenger side just plug it in and wiring will be correct. If you decide to install where the old unit was on the drivers side you’ll need to swap the turn signal leads.

I bought this to replace my original 4Runner trailer harness which had never worked (I purchased the vehicle used). Installation was quick and easy, only requiring that I change the ground wire side from the right to the left of the vehicle. This was simple, since grounding bolts are present on both sides of the 4Runner. The product is well made, visibly better quality than my existing trailer harness. My trailer light problem is solved.
