S-Boston Pocket Hand Warmer, Patented Technology, Black, Self Ignition, No Naked Flame, Up to 20 Hours Heat

I've had this for a year now. It's so easy to use and reaches a really good temperature. You have to be careful handling it and it does include some plastic parts, such as the battery cover, which are not as robust as the main body - but I've had no breakages since buying. Being able to reverse the lid to stop the heating reaction is really good and unique amongst 'lighter fluid' run hand warmers. This reversible cap prevents further evaporation of the fuel, but don't expect it to hold it from one season to the next. I know they're expensive, but I've had a number of other makes and am now saving up for a second S-Boston; says it all really.

This is the third one of these I have had. And the only reason I choose these, is that they are a lot hotter than others and they keep their temperature for longer. They used to be supplied with a velvety bag but they seemed to have now changed it for a faux leather bag. Personally I preferred the velvet bag. As I said earlier this is my third one which brings me to mention that there are only a handful of outlets that offer a repair service, but at the end of the day the cost of a repair needs to be weighed up against buy another one. That would be your choice. Overall I would choose this one every time.

I use this handwarmer when I'm playing golf and for the most part it works well but I've had to buy spare battery covers (they break and can be dislodged when putting the sleeve on) and the ignition system seems to be a little erratic. I don't know if the batteries are affected by the heat generated by the warmer but after four or five uses I have to replace them. The element that lights the warmer just refuses to glow unless I do.I had one unit replaced because it wouldn't light at all and I now think that the extra pressure I applied to the ignition button to try to get it going may have damaged something. The button does take a little bit of pressure to hold it down anyway.it is a great little warmer and does stay warm for at least twenty hours sometimes but I have just bought a new rechargeable one because I suspect that my latest one is beginning to show signs that starting it will become a little hit or miss.April 2022 Update: After being used just a few times during the winter, the handwarmer no longer works. The ignition element refuses to glow. I won’t be replacing it.

Maybe the shop would replace but didn't get round to it, and it's been 6 + months. Just get the Zippo ... inconvenience of using flame and being unable to easily extinguish doesn't outweigh the gut-punch feeling of wasting £40 on this rubbish

Certainly gets warm but after using it on five occasions the ignition button has stuck down and doesn't release so that's that!

Bought this for husband who is a gardener gets very cold hands. He already has two zippo hand warmers which are fine. However, this one definitely gets hotter...take care ... Only handle the plastic parts when turning to switch off. No problems firing up so far. Would recommend. It doesn't smell and seems to last with one fill for a few hours ....depends on the user.....just follow the instructions which are clear enough....don't do the ' man thing' and read them after you have tried to get it going first!
