Review: This has a permanent place in my kitchen - As a retired chef I, like most chefs, make my own mix or have preferences. I will always swear by Jalpur curry powder as it most closely resembles mixes I encountered in Goa and India. However, knowing of the claims of this mix I had to try it. This isn't a question of one being better than the other but the flavour of Chettinad is sublime, different from Jalpur but sublime. The mix of spices is very, very clever. It's like tasting wine and waiting to recognize which flavours are coming through but in this case smell the blend and recognize the subtle aromas of spices familiar to chefs. Most curry powders smell like well, curry powder. This blend doesn't just do that but rewards the patient with a whole array of exotic aromas. Review: Closest to a Durban masala I've found in the UK - Originally from Durban, South Africa which has a high population of Southern Indians. Finally found an authentic southern indian masala which reminds me of home. Chicken breyani, beef curry, chicken curry, chops chutney they all taste fantastic and take me back to Goundens, Govenders, or the Brittania Hotel...

Salt
An improvement could be that they have used sea salt, rather than table salt. Can not fault taste though. Very nice blend. Not to hot, not to mild heat.

Lovely Blend
My first time buy of BanyanTree spices - most impressed by this blend. Packs a veritable chilli punch so if you don't like your curries too hot add slowly to taste. NB: This is not the generic Madras powder so favored in British kitchens but rather a far tangier Southern Indian melange.

Only had time to use it once so far. It is fairly strong and makes a good curry.

Marvellous
In the middle of making a lamb curry with this powder. The smell is wondrous and a preliminary taste promises a really authentic meal. Very happy with it.
