What are the dimensions of both the smaller and larger buckets?

The large one is 9 3/4" wide, 7" deep, 8 3/4 tall, 16" with the lid open, this was important to me because my cabinets are 15 1/2 above the counter. So I must pull it in front of the cabinets to open all the way. It seems worth it because I had to empty the small one every day and the removable rim holds the bag in place. It does such a good job of holding the bad smells in that I don't mind letting it fill up for 2 or 3 days. The small one is 7" wide 7" deep7 1/2 if you count the tab in front, 7" tall, 14 1/2 with the lid open. They both taper so they are a little smaller at the bottom.

Is the venting necessary at all? Other compost bins have vent holes with the charcoal filter. How does this help not build up bacteria?

Mine molded! There's no way for this to work as a compost bin inside. There are two air holes but it's not enough air and there's plenty of mold spores that proliferate! I do not recommend this product! I eventually will be taking an old storage tote and turning that into a compost bin.

Is this product recyclable?

I looked at the bottom of my container and there’s an arrow pointing to “3”. Plastics labeled as “3” are usually not recyclable in most areas. Best bet is to check with your local sanitation department. I was hoping I could recycle mine since it’s falling apart after 5 years of service but it’s destined for the regular trash bin instead. I am going to switch to a regular glass container for future compost holding because I don’t want to add more plastic to the environment.

how does it work with bags? (I use curbside compost recycling, so need to use bags) And which size works best with 1.3-gallon bags?

I bought compost bags at my local grocery store which were 2.6 gallon (smallest they had). They are just a tad bit big but fit fine. 1.3 gallon would be half the size and seems too small for this product. I would go with at least 2 gallon. Put the bag in and fold it over the sides then put the lid on to hold it in place.
